morning all, i hoping that this forum can help me with a letter i recieved yesterday i recieved a letter from GPB solicitors stating that i owe a 4 figure ammount for a client called HLCF Ltd. as soon as i opened the letter i called the company to contest the letter as i have no knowledge of a debt to this company, after being placed on hold the guy on the other side said this was to a barclays debt, however i have no knowledge of a barclays account. i questioned him about the account, i.e date of opening, address etc but he could not give me any information rather than the person i needed to speak to was out of the office for 7 days, and this person would call me to discuss. over the phone i did say that i dispute the account, as i do not recall ever having an account with barclays. i have been living with my now new wife for 6 years gone febuary, and this is the 1st time i have seen any letter like this and of this nature. i have read various online comments about statute barred or similar, but TBH i am somewhat confused. we are going on holiday next week, and are now worried that when we return this may have been escalated without our knowledge cheers in advance
