  1. Yeah that's kind of what I'm getting as I read more and more about this. I'm a sole trader so this does worry me somewhat. The length of the contract (that they renewed without my knowing) was for 2years so it seems madness that them wanting me to cancel any renewal half way into the preceding contract seems totally unreasonable. When we signed the original agreement the sales person didn't mention anything about it being a rolling contract. Surely there must be something somewhere to pin mis-selling on these cowboys. I'm going to stand my ground with them not issuing any invoice for the renewal. This was for printed advertising and digital signage at out local registry office. When I was there to get my newborn son named, I watched the screen for quite some time without ever seeing my ad so I've asked them to prove it's on there. Despite many requests for this they have not forwarded any details. Their salesperson said they could provide screen-time statistics upon request. Currently they've come back with nothing so could I look to nail them with breach of contract (failing to supply the goods)? Man there are some scumbags out there!
  2. Next Generation Media Group based in Liverpool. Having looked through other forums they have some pretty strong form with this kind of behavior ... a simple google search using their name returned many threads all sounding VERY familiar to my situation. Feel a little silly now but then hey hindsight is a wonderful thing. I've contacted Citizens Advice, The Office of Fair Trading and Trading Standards for advice. I intend to fight this one but I'm in no position to pay legal fees.
  3. Hi. Thanks. What did you want to know? ... I could rant about this one all day lol.
  4. My business just been thumped with a £625 bill for advertising I never knew I still had. Having received no reminders or invoices prior to receiving a "Notice of Proceedings" letter I've contacted the firm in question and they have said that it's because we didn't cancel our contract with them and that "it's in their terms and conditions". Having looked at their terms, yes it is there but they are asking for a 12month in-advance cancellation of any contract prior to it rolling over to a renewal. On the basis that the contract was only for 2 years surely 12 months cancellation is unfair!? ... especially when they never even gave us any reminder or even issued an invoice. I've tried reasoning with them on this but they're having no of it and are demanding their money. I cannot pay nor do I want this new contract. When I signed the agreement I asked them if there was anything I should know and they explained nothing ... surely this should have been pointed out to me. What can I do? Surely the Unfair Contract Terms Act would apply here in some form? It turns out that this company are pulling the same stunt with many people up and down the country.
