  1. Hi, I don't know if I have a leg to stand on here but I urgently need some advice and would appreciate any help that I can be given. I was given a grant of £699.99 for my last term of uni. I received the same amount for the first two terms with no issues as financial evidence was sent in for my mum and step dad. The last term I sent my mums evidence in but not my step dads. This is because he was dying in hospital of heart failure and the last thing I wanted to do was bother him with sending in details of what benefits he was claiming when we didn't know if he would make it home from hospital. Luckily he made a recovery. However, as his financial evidence didn't get sent in I am now being told I owe a debt recovery company 699.99. I don't have this money and I am terrified about the consequences of not being able to pay. We have sent in numerous letters explaining the situation but they have been ignored. What can I do about this? Do I have any grounds to have the debt cleared? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
