  3. I have been a busy person after the football last night trawling through all sorts of stuff. I don't like being shafted for money, especially the charges and money banks make! Thanks for your advice
  4. I have yesterday sent a letter to Capital One asking for £200 plus interest of £20 of charges to be credited back or sent to me (14 days notice etc) I have been up in my attic and found another 2 years worth of statements and the charges actually come to £420. Do I send an ammendment letter asking for this amount or eat humble pie and see what they offer with the £200. Look forward to any advice or help.
  5. I have just been up into my attic, and I have actually found every single bank statement for all 3 accounts, from the first day we opened them! (I am so glad I invested in a filing cabinet!) The total amount of charges we have paid altogether is £3130, not including interest. I had sent the DPA letters yesterday, shall I wait for a response (40 days) or send a Pre-lim letter today asking for the money back (14 days to comply etc) including interest? Look forward to any replies
  6. Where about's are the guidance notes? Ta:confused:
  7. Hello all, Thanks for your help and support, we had our previous mortgage with i-group for about a year (god knows how many charges we racked up there, is it worth claiming for?). We have had this mortgage since September 05 and so far we have racked up £410.13 (not including interest) this also include 'Debt counselling £47.00' and 'Debt counselling again £88.13':o I shall be sending a letter asking for payment in 14 days, if not, off to the County Court to file! I will keep you posted. Thanks again

  11. I had an Instant Plus account with the Abbey (200-2003) a couple of years ago, I defaulted on the account, but this was charges that were added to the account that took it overdrawn and subsequently closed and defaulted:eek: . I know that I have paid alot of charges on this account, and I would like this back. Can I: a: claim the charges back b: clear the default on my credit record. Look forward to any replies:???: Thanks for your help. David
  12. DPA letters sent today, with £10 cheques included, lets see how long this will take them:) ! I will keep you posted!
  13. Thanks for that, I should have known really, we sent a 2 letters to GE Money home lending, both were signed for, but surprise surprise, they could not 'find' our letters.
  14. Me and my partner have been paying charges to the Halifax since 2002. We have 3 accounts with them (2 individual and 1 joint) and I have calculated that over the last year we have paid over £1000 in charges on all three accounts. I do know that we used to pay 4 or 5 charges a month in the last 3 years if not more. I stumbled on this forum and I have checked the FAQ's and advice people have been given in other threads, and I am now sending my SAR - (Subject Access Request) request letters (with £10 included in each letter) today via recorded delivery, and I believe I should now pull my finger out and get back the money that I have paid! I look forward to any advice and I will keep people posted, if anyone is interested. I calculate that we are probably owed around the £4000-£5000 mark:eek: , not including interest! If I have posted this incorrectly, I apologies. David
  15. I am new to this, so forgive me if this is the wrong forum. We have been charged by GE Money (our mortgage provider) for 'admin costs' and late payments, they usally are around the £40 mark. As with bank charges you can try and claim back as it is unlawful, does this count with mortgage accounts? GE Money are a terrible company to deal with and as soon as we can change mortgage provider the better! I do not seem to get anywhere with them. Does anyone else have the same problems with them? I look forward to any help and advice. Thanks in advance
