  1. Oh, you may also like to look up LSC v Rasool (5th March 2008) where the LSC LOST on a matter related to the statue charge hope that helps someone!
  2. Hi My mum is currently going through EXACTLY the same process with the LSC!!! Our case was referred to the adjudicator in December. The LSC had 28 days to submit there statement of case. They did not and requested an extension which they have also missed. They now have till the 12 feb to submit there case, otherwise it gets sent back to the land reg. If you have already submitted your case let me know would could assist each other maytbe!!! Were quite sure the limitations act should apply. Thanks,
  3. Hi, About two years ago my mum received a letter from the LSC demanding payment of £600 for legal aid she received during her divorce about 20 years ago. I’ll try to summarise the facts of what happened. *The divorce was not contested; my mum went to a solicitor as a matter of course to do things properly. I’m not quite sure how the £600 figure can be justified as it was only two meetings. *She was never informed that she would ever have to pay this sum at all. She is quite sure of this and her friend was with her at the first meeting to confirm this - nothing was ever mentioned or signed *We went to our MP who referred it to the parliamentary ombudsman who ruled against us as they saw it as a legal thing We never contacted the LSC after this and a week ago we received a letter from the land registry about the charge now being registered After several letters to the LSC we established the following facts *They have a ‘receipt’ from the solicitor detailing the amount. There is a section at the bottom which required her signature - IT WAS NOT SIGNED *The LSC insist it cannot be time limited by the limitations act 1980 *We contacted the solicitor about this matter but they told us to go away to be blunt I now have to construct a letter to the land registry trying to contest the charge. I have seen a few threads on here with similar cases with mixed outcomes. Would anyone be able to offer any legal advice on how to contest this? I’m just going on common sense and a basic instinct between right and wrong atm. Thanks, David
