  1. Yeah done that, And found lots of useful things. What I'm struggling with is all the official smoke and mirrors legal talk they blast about. Never been to court and don't know anyone that has so I have no idea what to expect.
  2. Hi, Got one of these letters that lots of people seem to be getting and a quick serch brought me here. I've already read through a lot of other cases and have got the idea of what to say. I just have a few issues I need to clear up if anyone can help! I will start with the facts. I sold the car in may 2010 via ebay. I have since contacted the guy who brought it and he confirmed that the V5C was filled in by both of us. I remember posting the V5C because the post box is directly opposite my house. First class of course. I can't not post it. It's across the road! From what he has told me he never received a V5C. He has since sold the car in October 2011. Some berk has brought a car without a V5 and the berk I sold it to, despite not living far away from me, never contacted me to sort it. So what has happened now is the new keeper has sent off for a V5, and I'm up for getting shafted. In this time I have also not received any tax reminders or been fined for not declairing SORN. Strange eh! What I have is a magistrates court hearing in June, I did receive other letters before this, but never got round to contacting the DVLA. I actually didn't think it could get this serious. From what I can gather from these forums I should write to the person at the DVLA who has authorised the charge and state the various acts that have been stated in previous threads. Is that correct? What also concerns and confuses me, in section D of the summons (not guilty plea) it says: "The Witness(es) named below have given written statements of their evidence and copies are enclosed. These will be read to magistrates unless you tick the box(es) below to ask the witness(es) to attend" Below this is a name that is different to the name the charge is autorised by and is unknown to me. Is this the person that I will be seeing in court from the DVLA? Just that they are listed as a witness and can't work out what it is they have witnessed? If the people of this forum who have gone through this procedure get together and help draw up a basic step by step guide with me, then I think it will serve as a useful feature and maybe even saved for future referance so other people can use it. Thanks for your time!
