  1. Hi I was wondering if i could have some advise as you have all been great in the past. Ive unfortuantly fallen into the payday loan trap, i was managing payments up until this month but ive decided to stop living on the breadline and taking out more loans to get by and just get this sorted - i currently have 4 ongoing payday loans. Payday uk -£194 Cash Genie - £390 Text loan £350 Wageday Advance - £200 Pounds 2 Payday - £130 I have moved my wages over to an account none of these companys have access too all with the execption of pounds 2 payday (its a 6 month loan and i can afford to pay this every month) The rest i have all emailed offering £25 a month each, cash genie and text loan came straight back accepting my offers, wageday advance havent replied as yet and pduk have if im honest been a nightmare, ive told them 5 times i only want contacted via email, finally today they have replied advising me the full balance of £194 has been paid and debted from my account on the 28/10/2012, ive checked both my account and phoned both banks but there has been nothing come out and nothing pending, ive emailed back asking what account this is from as there is nothing that i can see, should i just ignore them now? ive also applied for a prepay card to set up these payment plans. Is there anything else i need to do, its totally getting on top of me and i really just want all of these companys out my life! Thanks for all advice in advance.
  2. Thats what i thought....when i was on the phone to them he kept calling them debt collectors but the letter was fully branded sse with no hint of another company being the collectors, he said on the phone they were employed by see and not an outside agency, i do live where they have there headquarters so i don't know if that would have had something to do with it! he did then change his tune when i advised him of this he then went on to say it was the fee for going into debt.... the content of the letter i told him didn't lead me to believe this, thanks for the advise I'm glad i stood my ground!
  3. This is completely hypothetical as its already been sorted but i really want to find out for my own curiosity, I have fallen a little behind paying my gas bill through hydro electric, the account was about £90 in the red so not a huge or unmanageable amount but still i never done anything about it. i had been in the flat all morning today and left around midday to go out and do a couple of bits and bobs when i noticed a letter lying in front of the close door, i found this strange as the postman always delivers through the door as he should, i picked it up and it was hand addressed to me, it was a final notice advising the next step was court to put me on a prepayment meter. at the top of the letter read in bold "PLEASE NOTE YOU've BEEN CHARGED £41.64 EXCLUDING VAT FOR THIS VISIT" now i was pretty annoyed to begin with anyway as i know no one made any attempt to ring my buzzer or gain access to my property as had just slid it under the door, I'm not sure how that constitutes a visit!! decided i really should pay something so went online and checked my bills and the same charge was showing dated 26th june, this in itself is strange as i never noticed any letter then (although if it had just been slid under the close door again where all my neighbours go it could have been thrown out) i called them up where i was advised the charge on the bill from the 26th of june is for the visit that they just carried out today!!!! immediately this rung alarm bells, can a company put a charge on your bill 2 months before a visit has even been carried out? i decided not, i mentioned i was going to post on the forum for advise and the gentleman i was speaking too (the manager id been passed to who was very helpful by the way) seemed intent to keep me on the phone and advised he would speak to his manager, low and behold he came back and said the charges would be wiped off and i could just pay the balance. ....moral of the story is if something doesn't seem right its probably not and i think they knew that stick to your guns. just to find out though (and for anyone else that finds themselves in this situation can they charge an account for a visit that doesn't take place until 2 months after?? Thanks!
  4. Thank you all very much for your advice. I have tried speaking to the council but they have advised i need to complain to the sheriffs officers, i will draft up an email tomorrow and see what they have to say for themselfs. if i dont get anywhere with them back to the council then my local counciler, while my complaint is ongoing there is no way of stopping the wage arrestment im guessing? i have a feeling by the time the council get the finger out and deal with the complaint the money will be paid back.
  5. Yeah definatly, and i wouldnt disagree with that at all, but if i have never once been made aware of the debt at any point and ive never actually been given the chance at any point to pay the debt, i just feel there is something highly imoral about having me on the phone two weeks ago regararding another debt and never mentioning they were about the arrest my wages.
  6. I have technically two debts. but all of them i can afford to pay and have no problem paying if im honest. i was more insterested in the legality of arresting someons wages without giving them any prior consent or chance to pay the money back.
  7. Thank you for reply. Yeah i apreciate it can be a bit of a nightmare with the differing set of laws, i have done as you said and hopefully should hear back, thank you again.
  8. Please anyone any advice? need to call walker love tomorrow to try and sort this out and really need to know if they arrest someones wages when they havent once spoken to me about the debt?
  9. Hi Guys Looking for some advice. I currently have a couple of council tax debts, one for last financial year for around £500 and one for this financial year. Last years debt has been passed to walker love and this years is being dealt with by my local council. i have standing orders with them both for an affordable ammount. Now i must have called walker love about two weeks ago to arrange this debt and in fairness i wasnt on the phone long and it got sorted pretty quickly. i check this months payslip and i can see a deduction titled "eas scotland" for 122.39, i didnt know what this was but assumed it must be a mistake by either walker love or the council as they had both agreed to settlement plans. called the council first and gave me refference number, they informed me this was for a previous council tax debt from oct 2008 to feb 2009 for around £460.00, this was a flat i stayed in with a friend and he was to arrange payment of the council tax and i was advised it was in hand, i have never heard a peep from the council or walker love in 4 years in relation to this debt and not once when i called two weeks ago did they even mention it!!! what i really need to know is can they do this? surely they cant arrest someones wages if they were not even aware of the debt and have never been informed by the council of walker love, i have not called walker love yet but the man i spoke to at the council agreed it was a bit shady! thanks in advance for the advice.
  10. Thank you very much for your advice, I have another account with a different bank so will move my wages over to that after the loan is payed.
  11. Hi guys, I hope you can help! I don't actually have a problem yet but I'm concerned I'm going to. I stupidly just took out a paday loan with cash genie (really should have looked on here first!) Now I shouldn't have any problem paying the loan back on my payday but I'm concerned as they seem to raid people's banks quite a lot, is this only of you miss a payment? Any advice would be great thanks, I just want to get this paid and get rid of them before there is a problem Dav.
  12. Hi thanks for the welcome I don't think I praised them anywhere? I do not, but I do work in the insurance industry, I have actually being browsing the forums for some months.
  13. anytime. i do agree disgraceful record for all companys involved. Im not trying to stand up for them, its just i see you posting about them quite a lot, have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe they are trying to change to way they operate and lower their level of complaints hence seeing the result? just a thought of course.
  14. "why are aviva the insurance company with the most complaints to the financial omnbudsman " FYI taken from "insurancetimes WEBSITE Direct Line Group subsidiary UK Insurance (UKI) received the most general insurance complaints in the second half of 2011, according to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). The insurer received 1,611 new complaints in total in the second half, of which 1,554 were general insurance complaints and 57 related to payment protection insurance (PPI). However, this is down 7.7% on the 1,736 total complaints received in the first half of 2011 by UKI, Direct Line, Churchill and NIG combined. UKI is now the main underwriting entity of the Direct Line Group (formerly RBS Insurance) after a combination of the group’s other underwriting entities, Direct Line, Churchill and NIG, into UKI at the end of last year. The Direct Line Group is the UK’s largest personal lines insurer. “Resolving customer complaints is one of our key business priorities,” said RBS Insurance director of sales, service and partnerships Darrell Evans in a statement. “We continue to work closely with the FSA and FOS to deal with complaints and have already made many improvements to benefit customers.” Second on the list was AXA. AXA UK Insurance received 698 general insurance complaints, while Inter Partner Assistance, the underwriting arm of breakdown services company AXA Assistance, received 601 complaints, resulting in a total of 1,299. Aviva received 837 complaints, of which 563 were for general insurance, 265 for payment protection insurance (PPI) and 9 for life and pensions decumulation. RSA received 552 new complaints in total, of which 544 were for general insurance and 8 for PPI. The FOS is expecting a record 165,000 complaints about PPI in 2012/13. This is despite a sharp drop in PPI complaints received in the second half of 2011 compared with the first half. The FOS received 46,700 PPI complaints in the second half of 2011, down 53% on the 98,632 complaints it received in the first half of the year. The FOS said the reduction reflects the impact of the FSA’s special arrangements allowing banks more time to deal with their backlogs of cases following their unsuccessful legal challenge on PPI complaint handling
