  1. Thanks pjc, so how many letters would you say you sent before you got the plan set up? Did you get those standard letters refusing payment? I just wish they would look at my budget sheet and take note, there is no more money! How did you get the charges wiped? Do you think because I work they won't listen? I only work part time and don't come out with much.
  2. Thanks guys, I will have to keep at it and just keep paying the amount I said I would. DX - your advice has always been brilliant and I do have the statements and intend to reclaim - can you point me in the direction of the link to the letter please? PJC- thanks for the support - did you get them to agree or do you just keep paying what you said you would and they havent harrassed you since? I just want to see an end to the letters thats all, saying I have to pay £400 now etc etc and risk being passed to external collections. I dread getitng their letters and they ring me 10 + times a day too, which I have on Call Blocker (great App on the Apps Market). I did say to correspond in writing only but they ignored me! I noticed someone on here had managed to e-mail someone from Very who had agreed her plan straight away and removed the charges - that would be a dream come true!!!!
  3. Quick update - I have now sent several letters to Very with my repayment offer and keep getting the same standard letter back from Marie Marsden, Collections Manager - stating they are unable to accept my proposal as it does not fit their "minimum payment criteria". I even sent a budget sheet prepared with National Debtline (My moneysteps) and they still sent the same letter! I have now been hit with loads of £12 charges. My offer was going to be £36 and the balance is really high so I knew they would not go for it. All I am wondering now is will this keep going on for months/years with hundreds of pounds of charges being added, me paying the same each month and it getting swallowed up into nothing and being no further forward? I am starting to think of even not paying anything till they stop sending me standard letters, they aren't even addressing them at all. What I am wondering now is - when will they pass this on to their next door debt collection team and will they start to threaten me with court action? I really can't be bothered with the stress. I wish they would just let me set up a plan. Does anyone have any advice to make them listen? Has anyone had any success? PJC71, I wrote to the person you suggested but got a reply from Marie Marsden instead!
  4. Thanks again dx I will stay firm. Pjc yes thanks that will be very helpful! How long did it take before you got the agreement today?
  5. Thats great dx thanks! If they write back saying they won't accept, do I send the same letter each time, and keep paying the £10 anyway?
  6. Thanks both of you - I am going to write a letter today and say how much I can afford to pay. I know they will refuse it as my balance is really high and i'm going to get hit with charges etc (which I will attempt to reclaim). I just wish companies would accept that people's circumstances do change, they are totally unsympathetic. So I'll do my letter stating what i'm going to pay and wait! Surfboy - was your experience with Very/Shop Direct? and they really havent been harrassing you anymore?
  7. Thanks for that dx. I think I'm about to be hit with the first charge as I couldnt afford this month's payment and I'm only one day late, already had a text off them saying please pay now!! I can see from all the people who have dealt with Very get all this stuff and more - have you had experience with them yourself, or are all cat companies the same? I know its under Shop Direct so they must be worth a fortune. i will do as you say and write offering x amount, I think I'm just worried about the deluge of letters, calls etc. I'm just wondering if they ever do accept what you say you're going to pay and leave you alone or is it constant harrassment? Do they definitely not go near a court? have you heard of any instances of court action for this type of debt? Thanks again.
  8. Hi, I find myself due to financial difficulties being unable to keep up with the monthly repayments for my Very catalogue. My balance is £2000 and my BNPL period is just about to end. I've had word from them that the first month's interest added on will be £178, and after that between £50-£150. I have had to reduce my hours at work and have 2 young kids and paying a fortune in gas and electricity, food, nappies etc etc. I really don't have much to spare at the end of the month. Ideally I would like to set up a repayment plan but from what I see on the forums they sound a nightmare to deal with, threatening all sorts of action. I have never seen anything to say that anyone has successfully resolved anything with Very and if they do ever give in and let you set up a plan? If anyone knows please reply! Thanks.
  9. I applied for an online current account at barclays knowing full well I wouldnt get one - then 2 days later I got a letter saying sorry they cant offer me a current account but a basic cash account. All I had to do was send off a specimen signature then account info and pin no followed in about 3 days.
  10. Hi Chaos - I have set up both a Halifax Easycash and Barclays Cash without any trouble, both do online banking and all the documents arrived within days, my pin number and card etc. I am going to pay the PDl people out of Barclays and just put enough in it to cover the SO's, the Halifax one is going to be for my money only, wages, child benefit etc. Oh and Lending Stream gave me their bank details no hassle at all and said to put my ref on when paying. They did however say to call them with proof of my financial circumstances but the loan was onyl £80! I am going to e-mail back saying I have X amount after bills, you are getting £20 a month (i think thats fair) - although the total charge of the loan is £152!! Now I have their details they are unlikely to start auguing over how much i pay back, as long as they're getting something (I hope!)
  11. Thanks ivansmagic, I appreciate your honesty and you're right. I think I'm just so ashamed of finding myself in this situation. I am hoping to sort it out before it spirals into calls and letters from DC's fingers crossed
  12. Oh that is great advice! Wish I'd thought of that before I closed the chat window lol! Damn. Well I'll do that with the chat with the collections people. Can I cancel my card even with a huge overdraft though? Oh and one more sticking point - my husband doesnt know about the PDL's and his wages go into my account! I suppose I can set up a SO for them to go straight into my new one, he never checks them. I know its dishonest of me and stupid - I was hoping to get rid of them before he found out but I may have to come clean! Wish I'd never got myself into this mess in the first place....but I have and I have to face up to it. I got an e-mail from Lending Stream saying to call them and one of their "friendly helpful negotiators will arrange me an affordable repayment plan". Sounds too good to be true! I might ring them tomorrow - ideally I dont want to default first if i dont have to......
  13. Hi guys, Another quick update - and thank you for your feedback everyone its really helpful. I just spoke to QQ via live chat and the adviser was really nice but wouldnt set anything up for less than a 3 month plan which was going to be £78.66. I said I couldnt afford it so she said if I let the loan go to default to log back on to live chat again and ask to be directed to Collections they could negotiate lower payments for me. This seems the best option as it will free up a bit money for xmas (thats if they let me start paying on 31st December that is!!!). Thanks for the banking info asmilecostsnothing - I also applied for a Barclays cash account and my card should arrive any day now so would that be better do you think? Also if I have zero funds in my account (overdraft up to hilt) they can't actually debit money can they? I mean, I once ordered a shopping delivery from Asda and was 32p short (can you believe it - they substituted a product I didnt want!!) and the bank would not authorise the transaction so they can't take £125 out I wouldnt have thought? All advice much appreciated!
  14. Hi all, and thank you for your interest and comments so far! Well, here is an update....... Spoke to WageDay Advance who have been brilliant - a guy called Stephen Jones e-mailed me straight away offering me a 3 month plan instantly, I said could they make it longer but he said only 4 months max - I agreed as its £40 x 4 months so thats not too bad. I was hoping for £20 but there you go...and he said theres a standard £36 fee for setting up a repayment plan but I read that on here and was prepared for it. He was really nice, I said can I pay by standing order and at first he said direct debit - then I said I cancelled my debit card so I need a SO and he e-mailed straight back with their bank details. One down. Then Mr Lender e-mailed saying I had to pay £50 (the interest) on 30th November (which again I was prepared for thanks to you guys) and after that they will accept 10 x payments of £20 per month - again I couldnt have wished for a better outcome. Lending Stream e-mailed saying if I had genuine financial difficulties to ring them to discuss a payment plan which I havent done yet! Payday UK said I will be contacted after they try for payment and only then will they discuss a payment plan. I have read the exact same thing from many users on here so I knew they would say that already. I am hoping for 20 per month again. And finally QQ sais I have to ask them via Live Chat about a payment plan - QuackQuack - you said they only do 4 month plans which would mean £62.50 over 4 months which to be honest is more than I can afford on top of the others. I dont even know yet what LS and PDUK will let me pay. I sort of had a budget of £120 per month to pay off the loans so that doesnt leave me with much. Anyway - what do you think I should do, approach QQ, LS and PDUK before defaulting on 30th November or after? And does that mean I can start their payments on 31st December leaving me with a bit of money to buy presents for the kids? Also I have opened a Halifax Easycash account and arranged to have my wages paid in but I have an overdraft up to its limit on my current account so I can't close it. If I leave the limit at its max the companies can't take anything out can they? They all try for debit card payments and if there's no cash to withdraw Lloyds TSB can't honour it can they, so technically the payements would come back 'no funds available' or something? WDA and Mr Lender both said SO payments are fine. I have cancelled the only DD which was WDA. Any comments/help much appreciated!!!
