two years later after trying to pay the biggest debt off at the rate of 40.00 pounds a month and ignoring the lesser debts, its time to call it a day as my cost of living has gone up but my wages have not its all become a big struggle ,will be looking to go bankrupt and cease this nightmare any advice appreciated .

i had a nervous breakdown and was dismissed they kept paying me not the best situation .

kids are 21 18 and 12 .

Hi the_shadow, the list is as follows 1-former employer over payment of wages-£31,002.99 2-barclays bank-£702.23 3-barclay card-£2640.30 4-orange personal communications-£1077.42 5-hfc bank-£480.16 6-anglian water-81.58 it was the solicitor acting for my former employer that took me to court i am waiting for a copy of my credit file to come so i am sure i`ve covered everything thats outstanding thanks for the welcome

Hello All, I have for the first time today in my life been in a court to explain my debt ,i have just under 40,000 outstanding and no means to pay it ,i have been told that bankruptcy would be the most advisable course of action and that was from the court officer who told me they are not supposed to give advice but i was more than nervous this morning,i have been divorced from my wife for 6 years and have my 3 children living with me in council housing ,i work full time and earn just under 18.000 a year i have no assets,i don`t really know if this makes sense ? i hide it from my kids but im not feeling so good these days and don`t sleep so much, i should say that my x wife is a raging alcoholic and has run up debt not only in my name but also in my 2 eldest childrens names.its not about the blame game just wondering if there actually is a way out ???????????? thanks for reading
