  1. 5.6.2. However, if the window is big enough you dont need one. Think that just about covers it!!
  2. It is a scandal Nev Met, but going by your figures for data requests that amounts to £9.2 million (at £2.50 a pop) that the DVLA have raked in from the PPCs alone. That could in someways explain why the Government has turned a blind eye to the matter. It is gross misuse of the DPA but very nice little earner!! I think as it stands, educating people (as this site does very well) as to how these PPCs operate and people's right to ignore their childish threats therefore limiting the PPCs income will eventually (hopefully!) make these companies unviable. Well that's how I see it anyway
  3. Although I have just found this in Annex 3 of the Directive 5.6.2. However, if the driver can see, taking into account the obstructions by the A-pillars, a straight line 300 mm in front of the vehicle at a height of 1200 mm above the road surface and which is situated between a longitudinal vertical plane parallel to the longitudinal vertical median plane going through the outermost side of the vehicle at the driver's side and a longitudinal vertical plane parallel to the longitudinal vertical median plane 900 mm outside the outermost side of the vehicle opposite to the driver's side, a front mirror of class VI is not mandatory. So it is possible that it doesn't need one if you can decipher what all that EU guff means!!
  4. It does seem strange that an 11 plate vehicle hasn't got one fitted as EU Directive 2003/97/EC required all new N2 and N3 vehicles to have them after Jan 2007. Directive 2007/38/EC was then issued to require all post 2000 N2 and N3 vehicles to be retrofitted by mar 2009.

    DVLA Court summons.

Hi pursewl and welcome to CAG. Did you receive any correspondence from DVLA prior to this? They normally only send out the court summons if you havn't responded to their "fine" letters. If it was parked on private land you could've nipped it in the bud at that stage. You definitely need to get something in writing off the county council. I would suggest you contact the enforcement office and tell them you have proof that it is private land and send them whatever you get from the council asap. They will probably withdraw the court action once they realise they havn't got a leg to stand on. In my case the car was in a lay-by that is part of the public highway (albeit for a couple of hours!!) so I was prepared to pay the fine, just not the stupid amount they were asking in the first place!
  6. Cheers for the replies I can see your point craigers but the next paragragh of their explanation seems to suggest otherwise Not sure how accurate that info is! Was considering the SAR Brig, although it's a bit late in the day to change much it would be interesting to see if they did everything by the book. Like most people who find this site I was totally clueless about how these companies should/do operate. Third time of asking to post this thanks to my wonderful internet connection!!!!!
  7. Hi all First of all, this isn't really about an ongoing issue, just something that's been niggling me. Had a debt with Natwest which was being collected by Moorcrap. To cut a long story short, after being told I was in arrears by Natwest (I wasn't!!) they sent me a statement showing the account was cleared. £3500 debt was suddenly gone due to a loan rebate and early settlement made by "Interbranch Payments". Have no idea what these are!! Heard nothing from Natwest or Moorcrap since. Now the default on my Experian credit report shows it as "satisfied", not knowing exactly what this meant I went looking for an answer. According to Experian's own Q&A section I quote At no point did I say to either Natwest or Moorcrap that I was unable to repay the debt in full and had fully intended to do so until these Interbranch Payments were made. Although not a major problem as I don't intend applying for any credit anytime soon, I feel that having a default on my record as "satified" rather than "Paid in full" for the next 3 years could possibly cause problems in the future. Would it be possible to get it changed? Any thoughts would be appreciated. PS. I think I'm getting addicted to this forum and may need to book myself in for therapy!!
  8. Well I just tried again without changing anything and it worked 1st time!! Not sure if it was the site or something I had running yesterday that was the problem. Don't ya just love technology!! Ford: Adobe Air was already installed Sod'em: Laptop gets scanned on a regular basis with malware bytes, I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to that !! I use AVG free at the mo which is ok'ish, never used Avast so I may give it a whirl sometime. Cheers for all the suggestions anyway.and for using plain english, I've read through some specialist tech forums & they might as well be talking swahili !!
  9. Cheers loc, will try tomorrow. Use Chrome normally because IE is so slow & firefox keeps crashing on my laptop and I know some sites don't like Chrome.
  10. Yeah, I know Andy but at home I'm still stuck with mobile broadband which makes streaming a bit hit & miss. I want to be able to download at work then watch back at home.
  11. Was wondering if anyone has had problems installing the BBC iPlayer Desktop? I used to have it installed but because of crappy download speeds I uninstalled it. I now have a decent broadband connection so I decided to install it again. Went to the install page, pressed the "Install BBC iPlayer Desktop" button and......................... Nothing!!! It registers the button's been clicked but nothing happens! Any ideas would be most welcome before I launch my laptop through the window!!

    DVLA Court summons.

Hi guys, just a quick update. Had a letter last week from the Birmingham Enforcement Office acknowledging the payment and that "no more action will be taken on this case". Have so far received nothing from the prosecutor though. Any ideas on how long it takes them to withdraw the court action and send confirmation?

    DVLA Court summons.

Well, I've just had a lovely conversation with the Birmingham Enforcement Office. They had no record of the transaction on 23/06/11 and the reference number I was given at the time was a complete waste of good ink!! But they've agreed to accept payment of the £66 & withdraw the court action & I "should" receive a letter of both them & the prosecutor to that effect within the next few days!! Just checked my credit card balance & a payment has gone out but will have to wait for my next statement for the details. So my advice is that if you make a payment to these clowns, double check that they actually take it!!
