  3. Update: A satisfactory outcome on STA Travel part - they have offered an alternative at no extra cost to us. It wasn't 100% what we wanted but at least we're still going on holiday. Will still be logging an official complaint to G Adventures. With thanks, JJ.
  4. Absolute, sincere thanks BankFodder. I did good. I chased up the call and it appears STA are meeting with a GAD rep tomorrow morning to discuss my case. Update tomorrow. Thank you, JJ
  5. Thank you BankFodder. The Holiday date isn't until September. We certainly didn't misrepresent our ages as copies of our passports were taken at the time of booking and payment. I am so grateful for your advice. I will await GAdventures telephone call, then speak again to STA Travel and then put an update on here. Thank you. JJ
  6. Hi, paid with debit card. I'm sure I would get a refund, however it's the tour we REALLY want - everything we want to do suited to our budget. JJ
  7. I booked a GAdventures holiday via STA Travel. Brochure states recommended 18-39s. We are older but travelled last year to India with them no problem. STA Travel took full payment for tour and flights (seats booked etc). I received confirmation and receipt from STA Travel. No documents from GAdventures arrived after over a month, I queried this with STA Travel, who tell me GAdventures won't accept our booking because of our ages and they have now changed their policy since the brochures was printed. STA admit it's not my fault but are pushing me to take another tour (more active!) and GAdventures are telling me to take it up with STA. Is there any legal battle here - false advertising etc, plus my money has been taken and confirmation received from STA Travel. Any legal advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
  8. Here's a question...I'm at the half offer settlement stage... because woolwich/barclays have control over my property and mortgage and I am also heavily overdrawn on the same account; and I have my salary paid into that account... my fear is that if i was to pursue this until the ultimate settlement being payment in full; would woolwich/barclays have the holding power to reclaim my overdraft, close my account and have a strong hold regarding my property? Should I therefore consider the offer I've been made to be a small victory and accept?

I have at last received my list of charges but am confused over the charge types. Can anyone tell me what the following abbreviations stand for?: OD - I's assuming this is 'over draft' UC DC MC IC Thanks in advance...
  11. TOTAL APOLOGIES!!!!!!!!! I thought it would be moved to the top of the list once it had been updated I didn't realise it would stay where it was originally posted in March. SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY
  12. Hello...did I say I wouldn't help!! I took great offense to your assumption.
  13. Can I just say I was all prepared to regularly come back and offer help and I do occassionally lurk. I settled out of court *JJ v Barclays - Settled* and when I asked for my litigation to be updated all of my progress was removed from the litigation section completely, so I felt a little dismissed otherwise there would have been two people you would have seen! By the way I didn't agree to the confidentiality.

Please please please can someone give me a direction into which address the Data Protection Act letter should be sent to. There are so many in the Barclays threads but I can't seem to settle on one! Thanks in advance...
  15. Thanks for the congrats. Just to confirm the outcome: After Barclays filed their defence, a few weeks (well a lot of weeks) went by then out of the blue last week a letter arrived offering me full settlement 'as a gesture of goodwill'. I replied accepting the settlement, however I did not agree to the confidentiality and struck this out on the signed returned copy of their letter. The 'gesture of goodwill' including the £120 moneyclaim fee appeared in my account a few days later. Finally I have thanked Barclays for the settlement and notified the court that I now consider the claim settled and closed. Finally, finally I will now make a donation! **Thanks for all support received**
  16. Brilliant news... I didn't get a hearing date in the end, but I too got a letter offering full settlement but with a confidentiality clause - which I have crossed out and signed the agreement, so just waiting for my cash before I notify the court that the claim is closed. Yippee for us!
  17. Go ahead. It is unlikely there will be a court hearing at the end of proceedings. I started my action back in March and I'm just about to finish without a court hearing. Go for it.
  18. Oh yes you will... Just follow what everyone else has been doing - keep things plain and simple and straight to the point.
  19. I still have not received a hearing date - but things have moved on - watch this space!
  20. All is well, I had a reply to my letter and hey presto my money is returned!
  21. Thanks for the above replies. Just checked my account on line and still now refund - it's only been 9 days, and not heard anything, so will wait a while longer then if still no refund I will try 'Bacon'!
  22. This is wonderful news - congratulations.
  23. The phone call didn't work - a letter of explanation was suggested by the customer support team, so I sent one off yesterday............
