  1. Just found my terms and conditions, it says they will provide a van or mileage BETWEEN sites. I suppose im screwed on that then? Or as im effectively getting a wage drop to get to work then do i still have a chance?
  2. Thanks for the replies, yes we have to carry ladders, drills, 110volt transformers etc. The issue of carrying tools and insurance has been raised by other engineers that are also up for TUPE. I will have another meeting in a week, nothing has been agreed yet.
  3. Hi, i have a question regarding the current transfer of my employment to a new company. I am a mobile field electro/mechanical engineer. When i applied for the job 3 years ago i was told i would be provided with a van, phone and based at home and called to whatever site needed me. My current terms and conditions say i will be provided with a van and if a van is not available then mileage will be paid. Ok, after being field based for 2 years i was then based at 1 site 4 days a week, still field based with van, ie called out to other sites when needed. The site is 30 miles away from my home address. Because i am based at the site for more then 50% of my working time then the company taking over the site are going to TUPE me across. I had a meeting with the new company today. They have said i will not be provided with a van and mileage to the site will not be paid. They are going to pay me the same salary but due to the distance travelling every day i work out i will be roughly £50 worse off a week. Basically instead of getting a van to go to and from sites, i will be expected to travel to the site on my own petrol and will get mileage for travelling to and from sites in my own vehicle. Can they do this??? I thought they had to honour my current terms and conditions. I was also told by a collegue that under TUPE my conditions cannot be worse off. Under my proposed new employer i would be £2500 worse off!??
