  1. Thanks for the responses. Initially, being naïve, and expecting these “reasonable people” to resolve my issue, my communication was with HFO Services. After many weeks of being jerked around by HFO, who eventually said that it would be need to investigated by Barclaycard, I realised that I was wasting my time trying to resolve this with HFO, despite the default being registered by them. So I've repeatedly tried to contact Barclaycard. The problem with writing to Barclaycard is that it is hard to find an address to write to. A deliberate Barclaycard ploy? The Barclaycard “international fraud department” is a call centre in India. These people try to help but I don’t think they know what a default is, let alone how to remove one. I have written to the Customer Relations Dept. twice, but had no response. I've phoned HFO again, spoke to the Data Compliance Manager and demanded that they remove the default as it contains incorrect information, which they have refused to do. I shall complain to the ICO (for what its worth). After a few hours with a helpful person at my local Barclays branch, and I now have an address to write to.
  2. Hi all. I could really do with some advice as I'm at my wits end. Earlier this year I discovered that I had been a victim of credit card fraud. Someone obtained a CapitalOne and a Barclaycard credit cards several years ago, in my name, which has resulted in 2 defaults on my credit file. The fraudster used a previous address and a bogus date of birth, so the defaults on my record are in error. Despite this, Experian will not remove them without the permission of the creditors. CapitalOne have accepted that this was fraud and have removed the default, but the Barclaycard “debt” was sold to HFO services who say it needs to be investigated by Barclaycard. Despite phone calls and letters, I cannot get any response from Barclaycard. This has been dragging on for 3 months and I've yet to receive a single letter from Barclaycard. Any advice on how I should proceed would be very welcome as would suggestions as to who I can complain to.
