  1. What would I be looking for? Do you mean before adding myself to the Electoral Roll? I got my Credit Report last year sometime but I'll order another. I know I have debts on there scattered between two of the three Credit reference agencies but can you still improve your rating with active defaults? Or is that what you meant If so should you wait until the debts are Statute barred/settled before going on the electoral roll? Thanks for the help.
  2. Thanks guys, I've paid two debts recently which didn't try to take any action apart from the odd 'reminder' but the couple I still owe decided not to lower interest, which would be a forever loop of monthly payments and a bad credit rating. The total debts are made up of around 80% interest. Had they decided to take my situation back then into account then I'm sure it would have been resolved but they decided to get greedy. Appreciate the help, I'll find out more about this Restricted access version of the Electoral Roll.
  3. As above if he is getting another car shortly he can add the new one to that policy. Sometimes it even works out cheaper so the insurance would owe you.
  4. Afternoon, I'm waiting for a couple of debts to become SB, I've paid off two others which thankfully weren't harassing me for payments and I've just moved house so after some advice on working my way up to a good credit rating. I was receiving a couple of letters every week from the the debt collectors, usually companies like Lowell. Should I not do anything now I've moved and let them find me? Which brings me on to the electoral roll, I'm going to register and I'm guessing the debt agencies will start sending to this address once I'm registered? Thanks.
  5. Hopefully i didn't leave it too long from being in arrears to getting the meter set up. Thanks for the help.
  6. Yup, I got both done around 2009. Will check how much is left anyway as i should have paid most of it off by now.
  7. Cheers. I'll just be calling them just to find out how much is left then Appreciate the help.
  8. Why would this be? I thought that any arrears you incur between you and a company that offers a service could result in a default. Thanks.
  9. Callcredit, ot Capquest. Doh! Sorry if i didn't explain clearly, The original question was asking about defaults that these two companies leave if you go into arrears. And as i've been in arrears with both EDF & Thames Water, i was wondering which credit ref agency they would leave it under as Equifax & Experian show no sign, so the only CRA left is Callcredit. Or did you think i was asking about being cut off if i'm in arrears? Thanks again for your time.
  10. Hi. Yes current water bill. I made an agreement to pay £20 a month, but so far been paying off £40 a month, so hopefully i'll be able to clear it soon.
  11. Evening, Trying to clear up some old debt & the above two are the only companies that i still currently use that i'm in debt with. Which credit agencies do they use, as Experian doesn't show them, nor does Equifax? I did receive the dreaded red letters from both companies so expecting the worst, but won't know until i order my Capquest report. Can anyone shed some light please?
  12. Just to make it clear, i know there's a lot of info on tidying one's score, but i'd like to know the time frames of each step.
  13. Once you're finally able to have a fresh start with a new credit rating, is there a guide to point you in the right direction? What steps should be taken first as i've read about getting yourself on the Electoral Roll but what should come after this? I've read up on a quick guide to rebuilding but couldn't find any info on how long you should spend on each 'step', or if you need to do any specific steps first to improve your chances i.e spend a month on the Electoral Roll, then apply for a card, spend a year with the card, then apply in-store credit. Thank you.
  14. But surely this isn't a problem i should be addressing? I don't want to go through the hassle of a call out then trying to reclaim expenses from the place of purchase.
  15. Hot enough to cook eggs? Well, not that hot but the ' front ' of the fridge gets too hot to touch. I know they get hot but surely that isn't normal. Another important point is that there was a recall on Beko Fridges because of fire hazards with them getting hot. Mine wasn't one of the models listed but wouldn't be surprised.
  16. Will give them a read. Thank you There's another problem i forgot about, could be normal but the fridge does seem to get very hot. Whether this is connected to my original problem, i don't know.
  17. Interesting, thank you. Hopefully it'll fall off or get removed.
  18. Evening, In 2008 I purchased a fridge freezer from one of these UK Catologue's, but it's been playing up. The fridge compartment itself is far too cold regardless of the temp setting. So phoned the Catalogue today and was told that i didn't take out an extended warranty, and then the phone cut off. From what I've been reading, would I be right in saying that goods such as the above, should last a certain amount of years, regardless of warranty? Now on to my question. Is the next step to send the company the 'Sales Of Goods Act' letter & await a response? Will they try to give me the run around as there doesn't seem like much they can say. Thanks for looking.
  19. Afternoon, I had an advocate help write to a company who i owe a debt to back in 2009, and the salary i receive meant i'd have been in a never ending loop, and from memory, they didn't want to stop interest. So it'd been impossible to pay it & it'd have been on my profile indefinitely. Most of the debt is from interest built up & i usually receive letters everyday from the same debt collection agencies that pop up on here i.e Lowell. At what point will they be sending me a CCJ and why haven't they sent one already? I was under the impression that this was a sure-fire way to get you to pay (in their eyes). Any help is appreciated.
  20. The Equifax report is showing 3 Abbey/Santander related bank accounts. My Abbey account is no longer open, this was the original account I went overdrawn on & collected some nice interest. I then opened a Santander account back in 09, had a few missed Paypal direct debits. Only ever been charged once, something like £15. The Equifax is showing the original Abbey debt which is under 'Lowell'. Then a Santander account, which has no agency above it, just says that i defaulted in 2009, and the effective end date was in the same month of 09. Then we have my current (alive) Santander account, which has no 'default' written & no end date. The Defaults on both the Abbey & Santander accounts are different, does mean i've somehow defaulted twice on one account in the switchover from Abbey to Santander? I've only ever had correspondence with Abbey, which was one debt.
  21. Apologies, the one i listed in the original post is my Santander (currently using) which has no debt collection agency above it. My Abbey National DOES have the 'Lowell Portfolio' above with start/end dates6 years apart from 2005 to 2011.
  22. You're correct, thank you. It says Lowell Portfolio just above that. Another thing is with my current 'current' account, i'm with Santander & happy with the bank but it shows that i defaulted in 2009, it doesn't have any debt collection agency above it. Does this mean i defaulted on a payment? Thanks again.
  23. Happy New year, I've been looking at my Equifax paper report i ordered and trying to make heads or tales of some of the terms used. They seem self explanatory but don't add up to the various letters i've been receiving. What does the below 'Start/End' mean? I wrote to the company itself in 2009, but had trouble with repayment and usually get a letter every now & again from someone like 'Lowell' Would the 'end' be the last time i've contacted them in writing or when my bank account with them stopped? Current Account Limit - £0 Start - £0 Current - £+£££ Default - £££ Start - 18/10/2002 Default - 07/2009 End - 11/07/2009 Insight Last Updated - 06/09/2009 Thank you
  24. Hi, i'm a fairly new member but got a new email so needed to make a new account, couldn't reemeber the old pass.. I bought an iphone from ebay (risk, i know) from an unverified member, he had decent feedback for non generic items like sinks/taps so i wasn't too put off yet. He sent me the complete wrong model, i bought a higher spec, newer model which is identicle visually but mechanically different. Seemed like a bit of a grumpy sod from the messages, no 'hi' or 'bye' etc etc. Looking to send the phone back but as he's not verified, Paypal can't do anything about the funds. If he chooses not to refund me then Paypal can't do anything. Is my only choice to return in person? Other ideas? Thanks.
