Hi everybody and thank you in advance for any help:roll:, my mother who is a pensioner brought an new tumble dryer from comet, Candy is the make. The comet installers came and fitted it in they also charged her for this. My mother was not happy with the quality of the install, so i wrote a letter of complaint, she recieved a reply from comet saying as a goodwill gesture they would re-fit the tumble dryer to a specification more to my mothers liking i was very pleased . the installers came out and fitted it properly this time. Now where the dryer is fitted is under the draining board of the sink my mothers previous dryer was also in this position for 7 years past with no problem. after roughly 4 weeks of use of the new tumble dryer on Saturday evening caught fire thankfully my brother who has a learning disability smelt the smoke and went to investigate he shouted my mother who managed to put the fire out i was absolutely livid when i was told about this as my 3 infant nieces were also asleep in the house. The comet engineer came out on Wednesday and said that water from the draining board had got inside the machine and had caused it to catch fire and that my mother should claim on her house insurance, i dont know if this was the grand old comet fob off and am unsure of where to go from here please advise.
