  1. Hi there, The other half was taken to court by her old Uni, unbeknown to us, for tuition fees she does not owe. They have sent the baliffs round, whom I told to nob off, lol! However, I am strugling to get info out of the Uni. Talked to them by phone, and they are saying its the soliciters that have done it, not them, and they know nothing about it. The baliffs won't give me any info on the actual case. I need to write a letter to the Uni demanding copies of all documents relating to the case, her attendance records, copies of emails on her email account and anything else relevant so I can contest the case. Help? Thanks.
  2. NUCA didn't actually claim her tuition fees from SLC. The funding was there, and we have the letters from SLC to prove it, but NUCA decided not to claim it. So it's their fault, not hers. That's the stance we are taking to deny liability. It was an active descision on their part not to claim it and instead to chase her. She got a "pay in 14 days or go to court" letter about a week after she withdrew from her course, and then they sent it to a DCA who decided to just go to court without contacting her in any way.
  3. We dont have any of the paperwork, including details of the actual judgement itself. I have not applied to have it Set Aside yet, the baliffs have just stepped back while I apply as I explained the circumstances to them, and told them I would be denying Entry anyway. I am assuming that the CCJ was not done at my local office. At this point I do not even have a case number to go on. The university will have to abide by a request for copies of her records, but how do I word that? Is there a standard Template letter for something like this?
  4. Hi there, I have dealt with the baliffs, who will await further instructions from their client and the result of the application to have the judgement set aside. However, I have no documentary evidence of the claim or anything else. Who do I speak to to get copies of the Judgment and all related evidence presented? Also, I want to get hold of her files from NUCA, which will have the evidence needed to prove she owes no money, how do I do that? Thanks
  5. Hi there, My partner had a visit today from a baliff acting on behalf of High Court Enforcement, who was in turn acting on behalf of Norwich University College of the Arts for a debt of £2,117.08, which she does not even owe. It relates to a tutition fee which she was covered for by student loans at the time, and due to NUCA's screw up, they didn't get it from Student loans. This is not my parnters fault. We knew of the CCJ not long after it was made, but were told by Nuca it would be dealt with. It appears it has not been. Please help, what do I do?
  6. We have both made appointments with Doctors, and the council are sending a guy round to do a damp inspection. Very concerned about the supposed 4 month waiting list for mold and damp issues to be resolved.
  7. Well, the problem is now FAR more serious. I went to turn my mattress and found the mattress, pillows, floor and wall underneath covered with black mold. My partner has asthma and we have 2 small kittens in the house, so the room has been sealed off for now. I will be phoning the council in the morning. We have both been ill for the last 2 weeks, and only lived in the property for just over a month. We cant afford to replace any of these goods, and its the councils fault they have been wrecked. Any advice on what to do?
  8. Hi there, I have recently moved into a council house, and would like some help with a few things. 1) There is a mold problem in the house. We were told that there was no mold problem, despite the officer telling us this being in the same room as the giant wall of mold when we were shown the flat, us pointing out the mold to him, and him stating it was not mold. I had it cleaned with mold killer when I moved in, but its coming back. This may be related to my second issue. 2) The windows are all double glazed, but the door is one of the original council style wooden front doors with a huge safety glass pane taking up the top half of the door. The previous tenant must have had a cat, as there was a huge hole in the bottom from what I suspect is a cat flap. This has been covered with a bit of bare MDF nailed to the door. The house is always cold as there is a draught coming in and glass in the window is always soaked with condensation, so much it drips all down the door. The council originally told me it could be replaced, but have recently changed their tune to "Repaired". The repair guy put the small bristly plastic draught excluders on the door, but did nothing about the hole, and the glass is still letting all the cold in. The house is never warm, the radiatiors dont seem to make any difference. What can I do?
  9. Hey there, I am about to buy my first TV Licence, and was looking for some advice. The yearly one off payment is not going to happen, so I am looking at other options. I was thinking of paying quarterly, but saw the surcharge for doing it? Why pay a surcharge quarterly and not weekly/monthly? Also, I try to avoid Direct Debit payments, as I am not in control of them Looking at the monthly payments, they want you to pay your whole licence in 6 months rather than the year it runs for, and they pay half of next years licence in the next 6 months(how they get away with that, I dont know). What happens if I take the monthly option and pay half for the first 6 months and then continue paying as normal? Will they make late payment charges if I try that? Does anyone else have any experince with this? Thanks
  10. Thanks, looks like it could be waived! The documentation that was sent through wasn't even consistent.
  11. Hi there, Theres a £75 fee for getting a judgement set aside? Even if the claim is bogus or you did not recieve the paperwork? We can't afford that as we are on income support, is there any help available for this? Thanks.
  12. Hi there, My partner was removed from her course in Febuary this year, for non-attendance(total rubbish, she had medical reasons for not attending and the uni promised her help but then changed thier minds). Student loans company were covering her tuition fees. We moved not long after that, and I today got a waft of mail from the Uni from our old address, which includes a CCJ for non-payment of tuition fees. This was issued on Thursday. The claim form was sent on the 11th. If we had got it, we would have obviously fought it, as she had a student loan to cover. What can we do? The course says that if they withdraw before 1st december then she is laible, however, the Uni removed her in Febuary.
  13. Hi there, if its in the wrong place, please feel free to move it. Essentially a warrant was issued to search my property, and the police confiscated some property. Months later, they finally decide theres no evidence, and I am free and clear. However, not all of my property has been returned, as some has been lost, and one of the items has been severly damaged while in their possesion. How do I make a claim against them for repairs/replacements? Thanks
  14. Thanks for that, will use that tommorow. Will have to see if I can find the original argreement, but I am sure the whole Credit Union thing disallowed stuff like that.
