  1. Well I got paid today and after talking to the DWP about a separate issue the advisor told me that payments take 3 working days after the payment has been released. They also told me it is 3 clear working days and you will receive the payment on the 4th day. Thanks to all who offered advice and wisdom.
  2. Well all I can say is there is some great information there that I didn't know before tonight. Thanks to you all. I have been thinking about a few times in the past when I have been paid and if memory serves payments have always been released in my case on a Monday in the week before I get paid like I said if I was to be paid on the 23rd the payment is released on the 16th, that makes me think that it takes 5 days to clear Incapacity Benefit like yasmin32 seems to think. In some cases the post office card account clears this payment a working day early. Other things I have read is that payments can take 4 days to clear. Either way hopefully the person I spoke to at the DWP on Friday is right and I should receive my payment on Monday. Sometimes the people at the DWP seem really clued up and others don't and they work in the departments that deal with the benefit that you receive. Either bad training or some just can't be bothered. I occasionally get the impression that they can't wait to get me off the call and onto their next, and then other times you can get the most helpful clued up advisor. Is it just me or has this problem increased since they changed everything to 0845 contact centres and not the local centre.
  3. Well my payday is officially on a monday but for a long time I have been receiving it a day early in my post office account on a friday. Yesterday was different as it wasn't in so I called to see if there was a problem only to be told it was released on tuesday and that it appeared to the person I spoke to that it was released late. She also said that she had received a few calls about late payments or release dates. Previously when I have called I have been told that it gets released on a friday or a monday before I'm due a payment. So if I'm due on monday 23rd it has in the past been released on the 16th for payment. Thanks for your replies
  4. That's interesting to know. In my case I was told my payment was released on tuesday 17th. But it wasn't in my account on friday. I was informed that monday is my payday and that will be when I will receive the payment.
  5. Hi, I am due a payment of Incapacity Benefit on the 23rd July, I have for some time though been receiving it a day early in my Post Office Card Account in my case on a Friday. Yesterday was different however so I called and asked if there was a problem with my payment to be told sorry it wasn't released for payment until Tuesday 17th July. My calculation of the BACS system would mean that I would still receive it yesterday or am I wrong and the DWP are right that I should get it on Monday. The person I spoke to at the DWP did not fill me with much hope when she said that I should get it Monday, I emphasise should and not definitely will. The other thing that the advisor said to me which seemed strange is that my payment looked like it had been released later than usual and that she had received calls from some people in a similar predicament. My problem is not that I have to wait until Monday but rather I don't know if I will receive the payment then. I wonder if there is anybody here that works for the DWP or knows how the payment system works who could give me a bit of advice as to how long it takes from a payment being released to crediting an account. Thanks.
  6. I had a payment on the 18th Feb prior to the one I received on monday. I have been checking my account statements and my IB is credit fortnightly on a Friday. When I received the payment on Monday I was told that the next payment will be on the 21st March. Now I am totally confused.
  7. I got it sorted, I received a same day payment at 11am so my panic is over. It seems strange that my payday is monday because a friend of mine has a nino ending 59 but gets their money on a wednesday, any idea why that is?
  8. Well I went to the Post Office this morning and used one of the 24 hour atm's and lo and behold still no money. I guess i'll be calling the dwp again this morning.
  9. My NINO ends in 45. So I don't know how that makes my payday a Monday. But that is what I was told by the lady I spoke to on Friday. I just hope they sort it out soon.
  10. I did change my address in September of 2010, so I think the address mistake can only be the fault of the DWP. I changed my address then over the telephone. I get paid on a Friday but according to the person who dealt with me on Friday my actual pay day is a Monday and it is an anomaly that exists in the banking system that means I get credited on a Friday. I am assuming that since I have completed the proforma to correct a mistake that they will credit my account on Monday or have I misunderstood?
  11. Hi. Thanks for the replies, I wasn't offered a 3 hour call back because basically the lady I spoke to said that she had corrected the mistake with my address and that she had emaied the relevant department whilst I was on the phone and she said that when they make a payment it would more than likely go into my account in the afternoon of the day they lift the payment suspension. What she didn't tell me was when they would make a payment. It seems that maybe I should have asked but I assumed that once the address problem was corrected that it would be an almost immediate thing.
  12. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a little advice, I am claiming Incapacity Benefit and I was due to be paid today 4th March 2011. Well I went to the post office as normal but there was no payment in my account so I called the local benefit delivery centre and was told: Sorry your payments have been suspended as we have been sending letters to your address but they have been sent back as not at this address. The lady I spoke to asked for my address and I told her and she said that doesn't match the address we have, she asked what my address is and updated the system and said that a payment would be released once she had emailed my details to another department and when they lift the suspension. My questions, How long does it take for them to lift the suspension and release a payment? Another question is How long after releasing a payment will it take to enter my account. Has this happened to anyone else before? Sorry if my post is little long winded but I would appreciate any advice you have
