  1. Hi, I'd be very grateful if anyone can offer me some advice about my situation: • A debt collector turned up at my house demanding payment of a debt that I know nothing about. It's owed by a relative who it seems has used my address to get the money. The latter doesn't live at my address & never has - & is currently outside of the UK (perhaps for good & I've no way of contacting this person). • How should I respond to the debt collection agency? (They keep turning up at the door!) Thanks in advance, Tim.
  2. Thanks for the quick response. I'll send them that letter ASAP. But what do you recommend if they come back with necessary 'proof'' that the debt exists/is owed?
  3. Hi, I received a letter from Moorcroft a few weeks ago requesting payment of an overdue debt on behalf of BT (outstanding home phone bill). I subsequently sent them a CCA Request letter. Today, I got the following reply from them: "...Please note that certain accounts are excluded from compliance with Part V of the Consumer Credit Act or are not in fact credit or hire agreements and we believe that our client's account falls into one of these categories." Please can someone advise me on how to respond to this latest letter. Is it true that a BT home phone account doesn't fall under the CCA 1974? Thanks, Tim.
