  1. Look, I don't know if I am missing something obvious, but all these Daily Deals you are quoting are from the Amazon.com (US) website, not Amazon.co.uk. All the prices quoted are in dollars. And you are not allowed to download them if you are in the Uk. Amazon.co.uk has its own (different books) Daily Deals for kindle.
  2. I am sure someone on here will know the answer to this! I bought something online and on the website it stated there was an option for 1st class recorded delivery. I paid a bit extra for this. Now, after weeks of non-communication from the company and requests by me for a refund (which were ignored) half my order has finally turned up. The jiffy bag has a '"2nd class large' stamp on it with the post mark over it. The postman didn't knock, just put through letter box. So does this mean it was definitely not sent recorded? I mean if it was sent recorded would you be able to tell by the packaging?
  3. Thanks for your reply, but I'm still a bit confused. TDS or DPS:???: ? The deposit was registered with TDS, and I checked on their website a few weeks ago, and it was there. Does anyone know if the term about letting me know within 10 working days is a TDS condition, or just the letting agency's own condition (which they have now broken - well tomorrow they will have done). Any chance I could get the full deposit back by default, because they have not contacted me? I think in TDS the letting agent or landlord keeps hold of the money themselves, so isn't it more up to them, IYKWIM. This agency and landlord have messed us around a lot (stuff not getting fixed, dodgy 'admin fees' charged, etc, etc.) so I prefer to keep my deposit if possible.
  4. The tenancy finished (and I handed back the keys) to the house I've been renting on Wednesday 30 November 2011. I was told they would do a final inspection and we would be hearing from them round about the end of last week (so 7-9 December). In fact, we have heard nothing from the agency, although I know the check-out inspection was done (I was not present). They have our new address and our bank details to refund the deposit, but it has not appeared in our bank account. The deposit was registed with the TDS. In the agency's own terms and conditons (not sure if these are taken from TDS terms and conditions), it states that if they want to make deductions, they have to inform you within 10 working days. It is ten working days tomorrow. So does this mean we will get the deposit back in full, by default? Am I best to say nothing and then write to them, say on Friday 16th, saying that as we have had no communication, we expect the full deposit to be refunded within 5 working days? Or what would happen if, say, they have sent us a letter proposing deductions which has gone missing in the post and are awaiting our response? How best to play this? I am quite suprised as usually they are quite a pro-active type of agency, and from what I have been told I was expecting a fight with them over the deposit. Very strange. Should add that we had oven, carpets, windows, etc, professionally cleaned and went to some trouble to return the hoiuse in a good condition, and the agency know this, as we used some of their recommended people. But I have to admit the general cleaning (that I mostly did myself) was not perfect at the end, as I just ran out of time, and was expecting to be picked up on this. What to do?
  5. Thanks for your replies everyone. Well we took advice from Which Legal Service who said that in the first 6 months it is assumed that a fault with an item was originally there, ie Argos would have to prove it was dropped rather than us prove it was not. They said Argos should replace or refund. Took it back to Argos yesterday and this time spoke to the Manager, who agreed with us. As they no longer had the orginal camera in stock, we exchanged it for another one which was better, paying £5 extra for this. The replacment cover has been transferred to the new camera. So very happy now, good outcome in the end.
  6. Bought a Panasonic 12mp digital camera for my daughter in early December. After Christmas she noticed a black line had appeared on the screen (when you view, does not affect the actual pictures you take). This had now spead and become a black blotch. If it continues to spread obviously it will eventually become impossible to see what pictures you are taking. Took it back to Argos and was quite suprised to be told that 'she must have dropped it' and there is nothing they would do for us. Daughter is adamant it has not been dropped. There are no signs of damage to the case, cracks in glass etc, which seems to support what daughter says. We did buy Argos replacement cover at the time, costing us £29.99 and Argos says our only option is to use this. But if we use this then any replacement camera will not be covered, so we would have to pay out the £29.99 again. In addition to this, the price of the camera has now gone up by £10 and they would only give us back the original price we paid. So to sort this is going to cost us £40 overall, when we have done nothing wrong! Is there anything we can do? Anyone know the cause of the mysterious black spot??
