  1. And the phone calls have started again. Another thought crossed my mind, should I reply to their letter?
  2. I received this today from AIC. In the first paragraph is a downright lie, I haven't received 'numerous letters they claim to have sent. The only contact I've had with them is as stated elsewhere on here. A single 'card' and a couple of phone calls. For some reason the image gets shrunk down to a size that is unreadable..any ideas anyone? Thanks.
  3. I found a couple of links for you.. propertyhawk.co.uk/index.php? has the following.. "Understanding fair wear & tear This is where landlords have to apply the principle of fair wear & tear to the condition of their property There is nothing in statute which defines ‘fair wear and tear’; the concept is too wide ranging to be enshrined in law. The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) has however produced some useful guidelines for its’ members on what to consider when coming to a view on it. These are: The original age, quality and condition of any item at commencement of the tenancy The average useful lifespan to value ratio (depreciation) of the item The reasonable expected usage of such an item The number and type of occupants in the property The length of the tenants’ occupancy Legally a landlord should not end up, either financially or materially in a better position than he was in at the commencement of the tenancy or than he would have been at the end of the tenancy having allowed for fair wear and tear. It follows therefore (and is an established legal tenet) that a landlord is not entitled to charge his tenants the full cost for having any part of his property, or any fixture or fitting “put back to the condition it was at the start of the tenancy.” This would constitute betterment. " and from this forum.. consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?157833
  4. I received this today, would appreciate some advice. NB: the return address is in Reading, not Glasgow.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I've added a bit more to my previous post.
  6. I received another phone call today on my home phone, despite them being told not to do this. We had the usual circular phone conversation ie. I don't know you, we sent you a letter, I've not received it, we sent it. etc etc. the guy also asked for security details, which I refused to give. He then asked me if I was deliberately trying to avoid the issue, I replied again, I don't know you, he then said that he could easily move the matter to 'the next level' to which I replied are you trying to bully me! I asked to speak to a supervisor, who was then put on, I repeated my statement that I didn't wish to receive phone calls, and to write to me. He then asked me my name, and security details 'before he could resolve the issue'. I asked him to write to me, he asked my address, I said you've got it already! It's all starting to get silly now.
  7. I received a phone call today from Allied International Credit on my mobile, which was strange as I'd given it to Debt Clear on the understanding that it wasn't passed on to anybody. I spoke to a guy who said that the debt had been passed to them, I told him I'd never heard of them and asked why hadn't Debt Clear informed me after I'd spoken to them, he said they aren't obliged to do that. He said he'd sent out a 'card' 5 days ago, I told him I hadn't received anything. That started a circular conversation, we sent it, I haven't received it, we sent it etc etc, he also kept saying he couldn't carry on the conversation unless I gave him my security details, to which I replied, I've never heard of you. I asked him where he was and he said Glasgow, to which I told him I was going to inform Trading Standards.
  8. Oops, what I meant to say was getting any letters signed for. I received a recorded message on my mobile from these people today..I did a google and came up with this..the message was so fast I had to listen 3 times .. whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01412283052 the details are exactly as the last poster 'jeddy'
  9. Thanks for the reply. They've been paid upfront already as I understand it. Also the only way they would pay it all off is if I died!!!
  10. I have done thanks. I also spoke to Debt Clear, who denied being part of MBNA, even though they are at Chester Business Park. They also denied the return address was wrong on the letter they sent me, I pointed out that the Post Office didn't accept the Box number they gave, I was told 'That's the right address and box number, no need to send anything recorded delivery, we get thousands of letters everyday' !
  11. I'm in a very similar situation. Over the years I've taken out various loans with my Bank (the CoOp),( most of them have been top up loans offered by them at regular intervals, in fact I stopped going into the branch at one point as I got bored with being badgered), anyway all bar the current one have been repaid and all have had PPI. I got made redundant two years ago, and claimed on the PPI for my 5 yr loan, after waiting 30 days they did start to pay but I have been told by them that they will only pay up to a maximum of 12 payments at a time with a requirement of 3 months employment at the end of each 12 payments, which means that they will will only ever make 48 payments on a 60 payment loan. As it stands at the moment it would appear that the PPI and service charge on it, cost more than they will ever pay out on a claim which seems not a little bizzare for what is supposed to be insurance.
  12. I had a phone call from MBNA saying they could put me in touch with a remortgaging firm! Also I received a letter from Debt Clear Recoveries, who Companies House show to be a none trading company..
