  1. Mwynci, thanks for your honest comments. I have previously thought about what you have mentioned. But they could have simply thrown the claim out, said I was underinsured, wrote to me to say I was underinsured and raised my premiums as a result. They could have taken the action mentioned but instead they decided to be vindictive. Its this 'How dare you make a claim' attitude they have, as if I have no right to it. I've paid my premiums for £15k worth of belongings and the amount for the claim was far far less then £15k. Also who is to say that my belongings are worth £15K? If I wanted to insure my stuff for that amount I should be able to and if there was a fire I would only receive £15k worth of stuff back. It just seems to me that if you make a claim they scrutinise your policy, find something to shaft you on, and they shaft you. I took a poll of people (about 10 or 12) I knew who lived in the same area, same type of house, same income etc... All of them from what they have said they were insured for were underinsured. That's a worrying statistic for local constituents my MP would be quite interested in. Also my battle is to tie these people up in paperwork and cost them tens of thousands of pounds in replying and fighting this, even if I lose. It's only time for me and the cost of a few letters. For them it hourly wages they have to pay to fight it. I'll be the winner in this one way or another and my satisfaction will be 'You shouldn't have voided my insurance. Look how much it has cost you. Simply overturn the decision and I'll go away'
  2. Surfer01 - Already on the case. I can already imagine Ann Robinson's grilling of the Chief Exec......
  3. Unclebulgaria67, thank you very much for the info. I will keep going as you have suggested and I will lobby my MP about this. It seems Esure have a 'How dare you make a claim' attitude, but most people in this country are probably under insured. Mine was genuine as I am a lay person not an insurance expert. All I did was insure my big items I could see. It was only until the 'insurance expert' came round to my house and immediately said I was underinsured and then educated me in checking drawers, cupboards, items in the shed, clothes , bed, bedding, kids toys, photos etc.... and to replace these in the event of a fire. Esure probably have an 'unofficial' policy of getting rid of claimants if they make more than one claim. Just as a point of note for anyone reading this, insurance companies judge gross uninsurance as 60% of the total value. I was underinsured by 50%, therfore I slipped into this category. So if you don't want to go what I am going through double check all your contents, value them, put it into a spreadsheet and make sure you insured for more than 60% of the value. I will keep you posted on my progress.....
  4. Esure have just voided my insurance and it seems we are not the only people out there with the same problem. It seems that if you make a claim with Esure they will simply void your insurance for no reason. I have been with them for 7 years I have made one previous claim and have made another. The claim was turned down due to the fact we were under insured. A loss adjuster from Cunningham Lindsey showed us how we were under insured so we went about the procedure of costing all our items and submitting a higher insurance figure in the form provided. We were quite willing to pay the extra money to cover and did not hide the fact we were under insured. In most cases, insurance companies, should to the layman explain you are under insured and advise accordingly. At no time were we advised of the procedure to follow to increase our premium with Esure. This company has put my house and my family's future at risk as to try to now get insured with a declaration of voided insurance is going to be expansive. My house is now not insured and anything happens I've had it. I'm consulting an independent loss assessor for advice. I am also going to get legal advice. I am also going to request in writing all the information they hold on me within their company. I am going to ask for the transcript of any calls made within the last 7 years. I am also going to challenge every sentence in their correspondence with another question. And I am going to keep doing it until I get my voided insurance turned around. I am going to tie these people up in so much paperwork it is going to cost them financially and their reputation. I don't really care about the claim, although I had a right to it. They have put me and family at risk and I am not going to lie down and let that happen. Any advice of anyone in a similar situation would be welcome and thank you for reading!
