  1. Unfortunately I bought it privately, I am pretty sure that owner didnt realise the car has been clocked as he owned it for three years and was as open and honest as he thought he could be. Trading standards wont do anything if it was a private sale and was clocked 4/5 years ago or can they?
  2. I have just bought a 2003 VW, which I was led to believe had 96k on the clock with previous MOT's and a stamped service book. I stupidly failed to do online VOSA mot checks before handing over the £2850 for the car. Since owing the car for a week, I have been trying to get some service receipts from the various VW dealers I have been told - and the service book states - the car has been serviced at. I then tracked down the actual VW dealership where it was serviced until 2007, where it had done 130k miles when it stopped going there! There was 2 previous owners before the guy I bought it off and by end of 2007, the car was MOT'd with 44k miles on the clock. The service history book supplied with the car is obviously falsified and doesnt correspond what so ever with the vehicle I own. However, I believe the car was clocked after being purchased at an auction etc as an ex company car. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to try and find out who has clocked the vehicle as I dont believe it was the owner I bought the car off or where I stand in terms of going back to the private buyer I bought it off? I know it's sold as seen though. Any help would be appreciated. Joe.
  3. Well I know they have the service history somewhere in the dealership so I would like them to look harder for it while it is still there. I just know I wont be able to sell the car for much after if I dont have previous service history and felt the car was mis-sold to me as I was told it had full service history on three ocassions before placing a deposit. I feel as if I was conned into thinking it would have the service history with it when I bought the car.
  4. Hi, I bought a car from a main SEAT dealer on Saturday. I phoned the dealer before I went to view the car and I was told it had full service history, I then asked whether it had full service history when I went to view the car and finally, when I phoned to place a deposit on the car I asked and was told it had a full service history and that they just had to find it in the files they have. However, when I got there on the day to pick it up the salesman had took a wallet and owners manual from another vehicle and there was no service history for my car. However, the salesman had wrote down the garages where it had been serviced. Also, they had MOT'd the car but it had advisories issued and I wasn't given the sheet to inform me of this. I was wondering where I stand as I dissapointed the dealership haven't given me the service history or advisory sheet. Thanks.
