Can anyone give me a basic outline of the process shops use to recover costs from shoplifters, in particular how the costs can escalate and who is responsible for the debt if the shoplifter is under 18yrs old. If for example goods to the value of £10 were stolen what might be the cosst applied for by the shop. I need the info for a project to deliver to young people about shoplifting and consequences but am struggling with this issue ... Any information would be appreciated.
