  1. Thanks Biggeorge and suprise. I've just tried again using my halifax CC which has an online facility. When I tried to make the balance transfer halifax reject it. The message reads we do not balance transfers with this bank. So maybe it's a halifax thing. I think I'll try to get a Barclaycard and do it that way. Thanks for your help
  2. I am a victim of Vanquis. I wanted to pay them off by getting a new card from my bank and doing a balance transfer. I got the new card but Vanquis will not accept balance tranfers or any payment by other credit cards. Can anyone help or advise? MikeyP
  3. I'm a victim of Vanquis. I wanted to pay off my Vanquis debt by getting another card from my bank and doing a balance transfer. Vanquis do not accept balance transfers or any payment from other CCs. Is there anyway round this? Has anyone else experienced the same problem? I have lengthened this reply by way more than 2 characters Mikey P
  4. Doae anyone, like me, have the misfortune to have a Vanquis CC? I decided that I would pay off my card by applying for another CC and doing a credit transfer, Vanquis charges are outrageous. On recieving my new CC I was also told by letter that they could not carry out the balance transfer. So I called my latest CC company and asked them to cdo the balance transfer. They told me that Vanquis do not accept balance transfers or payment from other credit cards. How can I get them to do so? Any answers would be gratefully recieved. MikeyP
  5. It's suddenly occured to me that because I'm so useless at running my account and money affairs in general, I have never really been able to save anything. How kind of FD to have been taking out regular amounts for me. It soon adds up to a tidy little nest egg. Thanks FD. DPA posted yesterday by recorded post. Parachute account opened yesterday - Halifax. Bring it on.
  6. Thank you for you welcoming messages. I just wondered how many FD customers have had their accounts closed due to recovery charges. Also looking through the FAQs again I did pick up on the thread re 6 year limits. Does anyone think it could be possible to sue once for charges up to 6 years ago, and then do a seperate suit for charges beyond that using the clauses in the act shown in the 6 year thread? I do hope so.
  7. What an excellent site. I heard about you from the Radio 4 Money Box broadcast. I have spent a couple of days reading the FAQs and browsing the postings. My DPA letter goes off this afternoon. Along with a cheque for £10, which will take me over my OD limit if they cash it. Just a shame I can't go back more than 6 years. I've been with them at least 12 years and they've been screwing me since then.
