  1. Firstly apologies if this is posted in the wrong place or has been dealt with already, I've spent the last hour or so searching the forum and haven't found the answer. If it has been please point me in the right direction The situation is that we bought a battery charger for a boat from a company via mail order in December 2008. There were problems from the start, however because they were intermittant and because it was brand new we didn't at the time suspect the charger. After replacing all the other elements in the chain (batteries, cabling etc) at considerable cost, we identified the charger as the problem. By this time it was April 2010, ie 15 months later. After contacting the retailer, they replied with the standard "sorry, it's outside the 12 months warranty", and tried to fob me off with a third party repairer at my own expense. I did a bit of research into SOGA, and my understanding is that s14 (durability) would apply in this case. The charger is advertised as an industrial/heavy duty unit, costs several hundreds of pounds and therefore (I would suggest) would reasonably be expected to last several years. I sent a letter to the retailer explaining all this, and that the obligation was on them and not a third party to resolve the issue, etc. I have this morning received a response which essentially simply repeats their view that, as it is out of warranty, there is nothing they can do. Am I correct in believing that I would have a case on the basis of s14? If I am, what should my next steps be? Many thanks for any assistance rendered, this is really becoming frustrating
