  1. Please redirect this forum if it's miss placed but I don't really know where to put it. I had a alleged "account" with a previous employer, it was a shop and a licensed credit broker. They have contacted a 'finance company' which i suspect is an arrangement company but I'm not sure if it's official or if it's just a friend of theirs trying to make me agree to something. They claim I owe 1200 ish and have sent 2 letters saying my account payments have not been paid. Now I'm thinking that number 1, as they don't have a credit agreement they are committing an offense even asking me to repay anything so should I write to them and ask for a CCA? And 2, I am worried that they are going to pursue a criminal route... I do not own the items they claim I have had so would it be worth just ignoring them and letting them try and prove i have them? or stating that I don't have the items? Should I write to them and tell them they are wasting their time, if so can I quote anything official? Or should I just ignore them in the knowledge that there is nothing they can do? Thanks In advance for any advice you can give.
  2. I think you hit the nail on the head there! What do you want from it and how much effort do you wanna put in! I don't want to have to put any effort in, I shouldn't have to, but I despise the fact that these large companies can just give away peoples information like that! Would just like to see something done, but I think the truth, as we all know is that you'd have to fight and fight and the outcome would be nominal. I guess we got a free connection out of it and I might write to the ICO but I think people just don't have the time to deal with these big companies! It's a sad state! Thanks for the reply!
  3. Recently, my partner and myself decided to get a phone line so we could have Broadband internet. I tried the telephone line and there was a dial tone. We thought great no connection fee... until i decided to call it one evening! The woman from up the road answered! Obviously a double line! Next thing (we had already tried to sign up so BT had our info) whilst I'm out Mountain biking on a sat morning, My partner is awoken by a mobile call and the angry voice of a woman accusing her of trying to steal the telephone... Anyway, turns out, that when i had called the line and explained the situation to the woman who answered, she had though i was prank calling and had reported it to it to BT, who had then provided her with the mobile telephone of the person trying to set up a new contract on her line! Now we hadn't made any call's except a missed call to find the number. Surely BT can't just give out peoples number, if they are 'apparently' committing fraud or not! We ended up getting the connection fee waived but they seem to have no knowledge of giving the number out! Are we and should we be taking this further, I think it's disgusting but at the end of the day, if they deny it we don't have much chance. Would a letter to offcom be advised. Thanks in advance for any help. JT
