Can anyone give me advice on this matter. I have been paying my mbna bill by direct debit. Last month on receipt of the bill I paid what I thought was the outstanding balance and cancelled the direct debit which was due to be taken on 1 April. MBNA received my outstanding balance on 22 March, yet they still tried to take £160 from my account. They then charged me £12 because they could not get the money. I did not owe them anything for that month as far as I can see. They said I owed interest of £92 but I had paid them over £9K which received on 22 march, when they were only requesting a payment of £160 by 1 April. I have rung them up but to no avail. I have closed my account with them, paid the interest of £92 plus the £12 default sum. Is there anything I can do about this? If so who do I write to?
