  1. mmm, i wonder if Dixons is going to reply as i thought i would have heard something by now. I get the feeling they are ignoring the letter or will come up with an excuse along the lines of "we sent a letter to you, must have got lost in the mail". Mat
  2. Consumer Advice said they can help deal with Dixons on my behalf. I asked them on the phone but they said i have to send a letter first which i have done and awaiting a reply. Thought i would here something by no but still not but will give them the full 10 days. Thanks Mat
  3. I bought from Dixons online so i got electronic receipt etc. Also yes i have had an engineers report done and it's going to cost more than the tv value to repair it. I am just waiting back on reasonable offer from Dixons as there previous offer was not acceptable. Thanks Mat
  4. Well thought i would have heard from dixons by now but still not. Maybe they are going to send a letter back to me as i suspect. I was going to phone them but as the letter gives them 10 days to reply i won't bother i will just wait anxiously instead. If they fail to reply within 10 working days then i will obviously contact Consumer Advice (trading standards) so they can deal with it for me. Thanks, Mathew
  5. Hi Bookworm, I just managed to get to the PO in time to send by 1st Class Recorded Delivery and just before the post man came. So fingers crossed they will get it tomorrow like the one i sent yesterday and they got today. I also made the adjustments as you suggested. So thanks for all the help your a godess . Heres hoping to having some better news. Will keep you updated. Thanks, Mathew
  6. EDIT Oops i must had submitted twice. Please see below.
  7. Hi Bookworm, Here is my letter i am going to send. If you don't mind replying asap so i can send today before PO closes and advise me what you think of the letter. Please edit if you think i am wrong. Thanks for all your help Mathew
  8. Hi everyone, Please read above if not already done so. I just contacted Dixons back to negoitate and they won't budge from the £300. They said that is the maximum they are going to offer which also includes £47.00 report cost and £8.50 fax costs. I am not bothered about the fax cost but to say that time i deduct £47.00 + £8.00 from £300 means they are only giving me back £244.50 to replace the tv. So i guess i am going to have to accept althou i won't do that as of yet. Thanks Mathew
  9. Hi, I contacted Consumer Advice as my council trading standards use them or something. They told me that they don't have to pay the full amount back but they agree that a 50% deduction is allot considering it is only 14 months old when it broke, i also told them how appualing Dixons has been. The lady said i should divide the tv cost which is £426.64 over 6 years (statutorary limiations) and work it out that way. Can someone work that out for me please as i not sure how i do it. Then she said write a letter recorded delivery and show the calaculation i made and ask for whatever the amount is from the calculation. Then on top of that add the report cost and fax cost. Can someone help me work it out. Apart from that the lady said if i am still not happy to phone them back as they gave me a reference number, what they would do from there i don't know. Thanks, Mathew
  10. Hi, Gutted. Advise please. Dixons contacted me and i am devastated. They told me they do not have to pay me the full amount back neither pay me the report aswell but they will repay the report out of good will :O The person on the phone said: They will pay a contribution of £280 but that also includes the report at £47 and the fax costs of £8.50. So basically all they are giving me for a new tv is: £224.50. althou he upped it to £300 but still that is only £244.50. Are they allowed to do this? what was worse he did not say that included the report and fax charges, it was only until i asked would i also get report fees back he said that includes the report at £47.00 and £8.50 fax charges. I am so upset after all that. What should i do and can Dixons do this? They told me that they will allow me some reasonable time to think about it I don't have the money to put towards there rediculous contribution to buy a new tv. The man was somewhat rude and careless on the phone. Then he had a cheek to say i am not aware you have had any delays and problems with us, i said if you read everything in the letter i sent along with docuements and so forth you will know what i am talking about. Thanks, Mathew
  11. Hi Conniff, Do you mean i won't get back the money from the TV? i don't mind a replacement aslong as i get the amount back that i paid for the TV i will be happy or replaced at no charge to a similar spec one. The lady did say thou they will reimburse the cost of the fax charges and obviously i still got the email that says they will reimburse the cost of the report which is £47. They also said they will reimburse the cost of the calls but i said i wont have bill until end of month. As long as they replace for a another tv to the same spec or refund the amount i paid for the tv then i would be happy. Thanks and i just checked online and since yesterday it is saying it is being processed through the royal mail network, if they don't get it today they will get it tomorrow. Mathew
  12. OMFG!!! Lady whos been dealing with it contacted me back, read above if you don't know what i mean and she said they have not received them again for the third time!!! I had to pay another £4 again today to send them aswell. As i went to a different post office. She reckons they are receiving other faxes except mine. I also stated that i went to a different post office this time to fax today which i did. So she said i will have to send via post. So i told them that i am reporting the matter to trading standards and stated what others told me earlier today. I have now sent everything to them via Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded Delivery, sent at 3.25PM today. I also enclosed the three fax confirmation slips to prove i sent on all three occassions. She then had the cheek to say out of Gesture of Goodwill they will reimburse the cost of the faxes i have sent. I have just came out from PO again and emailed the lady directly to give her the tracking number. Hopefully it will soon get sorted as if the matter continues i think i may be better paying the £30 fee and taking it to small claims court. Let's wait and see now. I told her to phone me asap and not to delay etc. She said once she got the documents she will give to her manager to decide what they will do like replace, repair or perhaps do nothing, only time will tell. Althou my report clearly states everything they asked for and stating CUSTOMER NOT AT FAULT, Comet also included the costs etc to repair TV which is nearly £100 more than what i paid for the TV. I have kept a log of all phonecalls to Dixons aswell including keeping all emails sent and received. I also clearly stated this in the letter i have sent along with documents they want so they cannot try and get out of it. I have every reference and call log and what was said on each call so they can't deny it. Thanks and again will keep you updated. Thank you, Mathew
  13. Hi, Contacted them three times since last post. Finally got a call back from Emma. I gave all details that the fax prints as confirmation and proof. She said she is going to check the fax machine and call me back. She also said they hardly use the fax machine hence why they not got my reports althou she has obbviously lied as early she said any faxes not dealt with by the end of the working day is scrapped which i find hard to beleive, even the gentleman i spoke to at Dixons who emailed her to contact me back said the same as me. So will let you know what happens, just waiting a call back to say if they been received. Well i know they have but They seem to think otherwise. Thanks, Mathew
  14. Hi, I just spoke to them on the phone and the lady in the emails phoned me. She said for me to send the fax again and to phone her straight back so she can go straight to the fax machine and get them lol what a joke. So i have came back from PO as i sent them again and have phoned Dixons and tried getting through to her but she is on the phone i have been told she will phone me back asap althou i will ring them again in 30 minutes as i only just got off the phone from them. She gave me her extension number in the call. Also to add to my list of emails to Dixons that i have kept i also sent another email to her to say that i sent again as when i email them she has been the one replying back since past few weeks. I will be stating what you told me in the next call i make so thanks for that. Fingers Crossed i may get somewhere. Will keep you updated as promised. Thanks Mathew
  15. Hi, UPDATE: Sent fax on 27/04/2010 to the Fax number i was given in an email from Dixons, suprise suprise when i got to the post office it was a dead line. Went home contacted Dixons again via phone and was given a new number. Went back to post office and this time the information they wanted was sent to them. Two days later i contacted them as i had no reply via email or telephone. I was told they not got the fax althou i told them i got my proof of sending as the fax machine printed a successfully sent which includes date/time and how many pages. So then i got a Call from someone from Dixons to say to send it again but this time to another number! thats rite a third number. I told them as soon as i get off the phone i will fax it, i was told ok etc. I went back to the post office for a thrid time and yesterday faxed it all again, again i have proof of faxing. I was told by the person on the phone to email Dixons once i sent the fax so they are aware, which i find stupid but i did as soon as i sent the fax. Today they contacted me via email from my email yesterday to say i sent the fax, and now once again they said they not got the fax because if faxes are not taken from machine by end of working day they are scrapped, not only i think that is rubbish the person in the email had a cheek to state " as soon as this report is sent in we will be able to resolve this matter." . Who do they think they are? i have sent it twice already, it had costed me £6.00 in faxing so far plus phonecalls to a 0844 number which is costing me a fortune, i know that as last month i contacted a different company on an 0844 number and was charges nearly £5 for being on the 15 minutes. Infact i think it was more. So now they want me to send it all again for a third time at another cost of £3 plus phone them to tell them. So it is costing me probably nearly £15 . What do you people advise as i just refuse to resend again as they are clearly taking the mickey out of me. Thanks Mathew
