Hello last year , i was a victim of bank fraud. basically i thought i had misplaced my wallet around my house somewhere when in-fact i had either been pick pocketed or dropped it. i only realized it went missing when i was contacted by the police to say it had been handed in. to cut a long painful story short i had an abbey account with no overdraft that i hadn't used due to not being able to change the pin at an abbey ATM machine. in the time my wallet was missing no more then a few days a large amount of money was cleared into my account and spent on mortgages, food shopping, electrical s and you guessed it book makers. after being told by the police that i couldn't of been held responsibly as i hadn't miss treated my pin information i wasn't a victim just an informant on updating the bank which was trying to get me for miss use of an account i was told that i would receive a dis-claimer (signing of the debt) this never arrived and shortly after i was forwarded onto the collection team. on phoning them once again i was told it was still under investigation but they had come to the conclusion i had miss used my pin (telling someone or writing it down) now obviously i refused to pay this. and now on my credit report it says that i had borrowed the amount that was in question and that i had defaulted on the loan repayments which is completely unfair, i don't think its effected me too much as i had no problems getting phone contracts. can anyone help me out on this subject?
