  1. Hi, That doesn't really help, does it? Unless you change your email address and/or telefone number every day or after each use, it does not change anything. Nobody is selling his/her SIM card or disposes the email address after each use. Currently I have 4 mobiles laying around (yeah, I am abit nostalgic and each phone has its appeal ). 2 of them are in use for one PAYG number and one contract with full internet access. For the unwanted texts and calls on the PAYG I have the CallBlocker and report anything that gets through to 37726 on Three I myself use a Yahoo! UK email for my everyday purposes as well as a PAYG number for such things. With the email address it might be wise to use the disposable addresses I can create there But still the option (as noted) to not being contacted is well hidden and needs to be made obvious. There should be also a regulation that Opt-In is required rather than Opt-Out. Best regards, Tino
  2. Hi everybody, Thx for your replies. This option is quite well hidden. When you get there, you have only this paragraph: " As part of our commitment to helping you find the right insurance at the right price, we have authorised our partners with the two best premiums to contact you by phone, SMS or email to help you with your purchase. They may also highlight any special offers that they have to help further reduce the cost of your insurance. If you'd prefer not to use this service, please click here for more information. " Only after you click on the "please click here for more information" link, you see the option. I think this should be displyed immediately and not only after another unnecessary click. Best regards, Tino
  3. Hello everybody, How are you? I hope you are fine First of all, I am not sure, whether this is the right place for this enquiery In order to chose a used car to buy, I wanted to get a list of insurance quotes via GoCompare. Now I am bombarded by calls from the best offering insurance companies. I already complained about this to GoCompare, but they just informed me, that this is standard procedure and I have to accept this or not make such inquieries. Without accepting this through the T&C's I cannot get such quotes. Also providing the telefone number is mandatory. I see this as an unwanted contact and an unfair practice by GoCompare. Is there anything to avoid this? Or are there any other comparisation sites, that do not require contact details or do not forward details without explicit approval? Best regards, Tino
  4. Thx Antone. So basically it is worth also to register for just a few weeks, even if there is already a new job in the pipeline, that starts a month after me leaving my current position.
  5. Hello all, Thank you very much for your replies. Additional questions: Are there any limits, when I would get anything and does it make sence to apply, when my package exceeds these limits? Best regards
  6. Hello all, How are you? I hope you are fine Recently my employer is reducing the workforce and offered the affected employees a voluntary redundancy via expression of wish. I am one of the affected people and will receive under the voluntary a payment in lieu of notice. As far as I understand this has an effect as if I would work the time for which this payment is made. Is this correct? My next question is then: When should I apply/register for the JSA, in my last 3 working days or 3 days before the time, for which the payment in lieu of notice is, runs out? PS: I am convinced, that I will get a new job within this timeframe anyway, but I would like to know this just in case Best regards
  7. Thank you very much for your update I am not sure about the necessity of a Notice of sums in arrears in a HP agreement. The document I found for this (oft1002.pdf from the OFT website) only speaks about fixed-sum credit agreements, but not an HP agreement. Currently I am considering a VT on this car anyway. But I will wait for the reaction to my letter, which I sent already at the 15th November 2012. With the VT, I will probably wait until the next MOT. I think I will have to repair some things before it can be MOT'ed. Or should I consider to VT before this? And what is considered as a reasonable condition for the VT? Best regards, MisterT1968
  8. Hi everybody, This is my first post, so please excuse me, if I posted it into the wrong location And please move it to the correct one. I searched the forum, but did not find something related. I have a HP agreement with AFL (Advantage Finance Ltd), where i was unable to make the last payment (due 28th October 2012). The HP agreement is currently beginning the last of 4 years. So 3/4th of the agreement is paid off. AFL sent me a notice that I have missed the payment, a few days (less than a week) later, which gave me 48 hours to contact them and pay in full. However, the letter arrived 3 working days after the date specified. At the 14th November 2012 I called them up and explained, what happened and asked, if there is a chance to make 3 or 4 increased payments for the following installments. I was rather rudely informed, that they can "not allow" a non-payment for this month. They also informed me, that, as I am unable to pay, they have to default my account immediately. I asked that the person discusses the issue with her supervisor. As I had a meeting to attend at this time, I was unable to stay in the line. Then the letter they sent then was dated the same day (14th November 2012), which I received at the 16th November 2012, that included a Notice of Default (served under Section 87(1) of the CCA 1974). I am under the impression, that a Notice of Default can only be issued, if a Notice of Sums in Arrears were issued, which can only be issued after a shortfall of no less than 2 payments. How is the legal situation here? I understand, that they cannot reposess the car without a court order anyway, as more than 50% has been paid off already. Best regards, MisterT1968
  9. The solution for this issue is quite easy. Of course the councils can not be responsible for cleaning the pavements because of the financial and timely effort. Anyhow, every house owner should be made responsible for cleaning the snow in such conditions. In most other country, which has such conditions even only from time to time, such procedures are in place. And how much would it an individual cost to clean 20 or maybe 50 meters of pavement? Half an hours at most with the right tools. And if they have kids, they love to play in snow anyway But I think this country is a total loss in such things. Everybody only complains that the pavements are not cleaned so that elderly people can not walk properly, but if you look in front of their own houses ... ... By the way in other countries for such things is sand used to give the frozen snow grip and not salt. The reason: Salt melts the snow and then the water will freeze over making it even worse Have a nice day.
