  1. Well lmfao COMET finally gave in and gave me a returns No on the 3rd Jan 2010.

On the 4th Jan 2010 I picked up a brand new LG42PQ6000 ……………… last week the screen went T**'s up:(

Call to COMET …………… they stated they have the right to repair it lmfao :!: is there no end to this head up the backside approach to consumerism :?:

  2. Actually they do have a right to take up to 6 weeks as this will cover time for getting in spare parts etc.

Really :?: Where did you glee this nugget of information

  3. Generally it takes a company 6 weeks

It would ned to be a very cold day in hell for me to wait 6 weeks ;-) These clowns will get 3 weeks max :!:

Rickmansworth :!: Nope don't have the address for that one :| If you have it would you kindly post it up.

Who knows maybe I can find someone there with an understanding of 'Customer Service'

What gets you is that you do all the solution finding, in the vain hope that you connect with someone with a heart :)

  5. I love a fight ;-) COMET HO in Hull need to understand, deal with people in a decent and dignified manner. Sticking your head in the sand and saying 'Not my problem' leaves your backside exposed, nothing beats kicking that backside.

I managed to corner the dept manager at the COMET store, as the manager is a by product of CS in Hull ;-)

Had to buy a new TV which will be fully refunded once our TV is fixed, so at least the kids can play with the new Wii games. :D As I have all our media on a server, they couldn't even watch films. At least the music side worked as it didn't require the TV :|

The threat of legal action is sometimes the best catalyst.

What get's my blood boiling, is having come up with a number of solutions to rectify the problem, then having some snotty nosed, faceless, unhelpful sorry excuse for a human being saying 'No' without thinking.

  6. You don't need a washing machine to be hygienic :!: When I was younger my mother would be bent over the bath washing clothes by hand. A TV is entertainment, the children love to play Wii sports etc, Wii fit (especially when the weather outside isn't too kind).

Who sets this 'Reasonable period of time' :?: COMET :!: Unfortunately 'Reasonable' isn't in COMETS vocabulary. What's reasonable to one person isn't at all reasonable to another.

Letter sent today was 2nd & final letter, first letter I received a phone call from their HO in Hull basically saying tough, you'll have to wait.

Asked for everything loan one etc. I even asked COMET HO if I can get the parts to get the TV fixed will you install them :!: No was the reply, we supply the parts

I even attempted to appeal to the woman's maternal instincts who called from HO, asked her how she would feel if her kids woke on Christmas morning to open their presents, only to realise their not too good if you don't have a TV :!:

One things for sure, having kept my cool throughout the whole process, I find their attitude stinks.

  8. IMHO you will most likely have to wait, why not contact your local newspaper, they may have a consumer rights adviser

    Have spoken to Trading Standards and Consumer direct, who have been guiding me through the correct route. Both of whom say that I have a case under;

The seller must (a)repair or, as the case may be, replace the goods within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer.

So that's the route I'm going down, it's definitely a significant inconvenience.

  9. After 11 months - yes it is acceptable, under SOGA, for them to repair.

poor customer service regarding timescales etc, but that doesnt change the fact that they are entitled to repair as opposed to replace.

The seller must (a)repair or, as the case may be, replace the goods within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer.

Would have thought that this would have been the best route for you take :!:

  10. TV purchased in February 09, broke down on the 12th December (on / off button won't turn on TV)

Engineer called on 15th Dec said 'Can't fix it as it needs new parts' gave a date of Dec 22nd for repair. However now told by COMET that they can't repair TV until 29th Dec

Now according to COMET HO this is a reasonable time for us to wait :!: However my case is that the time scale and indeed the period is as defined under SOGA going to cause a significant inconvenience.

Sent Registered letter to COMET HO had a call 2 days later saying you'll have to wait. Informed them that I wasn't happy with this and that I would peruse the matter in the Count Court. Will today send final letter (Registered) to them in the hope they sort this problem ASAP.
