  1. If the exact same model was instore then I wouldn't have a problem. There's a Bush one or Alba one for £499. Fifty quid more than what I paid and I don't fancy either of those brands. I paid by debit card so you think they should be able to re credit the card. If that's the case then I'd be pleased to take that and go elsewhere. I just want to know if I am within my rights to refuse their 'store credit' and demand either a like-for-like replacement (which I guess would be the more expensive Bush or Alba models) or a cash refund.
  2. Hello everyone! I bought a 42" Acoustic Solutions LCD TV from Argos last year and it developed a fault with the sound. It's within 1 year warranty and Argos sent an engineer to my house and he has given me a letter saying that the PCB board needs replacing and that it's too expensive to repair, so I should take it back to Argos for a REPLACEMENT. (that's what it says on the letter, replacement not REFUND). Now then, I went back to Argos with the letter and said before I bring the TV back I'd like to know what TV they intend to replace it with. I was told they'd just refund me and I can pick another instore. Thing is I paid £449 for the TV just after Christmas last year. The TV had already been reduced from £579 and apart from the sound problem has been a really good TV. There's nothing in Argos at the moment that even comes close to that for £449. Where do I stand? Can I demand a like-for-like replacement? I assume that legally they are only obliged to give me a refund for what I paid, but if that is the case then surely I should receive a CASH refund not store credit so I am free to source the best deal myself elsewhere. I'd really appreciate any advice and suggestions. Thanks.
