Hi, Can only help a little bit but my husband went to court and was made bankrupt in June 2008, from seeing his solicitor to becoming bankrupt this actually took approx 1 month, his bankruptcy has been discharged after 12 months and he fulfilled the IPA that was set out for the bankruptcy. This was for approx £44k of debt, due to the fact that we had no expendable income he was put on NT Code for tax at work and had to pay the tax that he would normally have paid over to the Inland Revenue to the appointed official receivers. I've just rang the number now and they took a message, within 5 mins the guy had rang me back, the bailiff I was enquiring about has been certificated in the Birkenhead Courts back in April this year, when I asked why he wasn't showing up on the website his response was that the Courts send the information to them, therefore I now have to ring the Court to find out if he has been given the certificate! yes, unfortunately she did a runner, I knew I owed the one payment and completely forgot due to the problems I was having with family issues, when I did the tenancy she assured me she wanted to stay there long term so I did a 12 month agreement, teh date on the agreement was the 16th April, this agreement was done without my mortgage company knowing as I needed desperately to move due to serious famly issues. I know I have completely messed everything up by burying my head in the sand, the bailiff coming yesterday really scared me. I have checked and his name doesn't appear on the certificated bailiff register so if he comes again do I tell him to go away?

I did, it was one printed off the internet, none of the other bills were in my name, the contract stated that she paid the rent (but none of the bills), we spoke and she said she'd pay the council tax direct which she never did.

Hi, can anyone please help me? Yesterday a bailiff from Jacobs came knocking on my door regarding unpaid council tax. I moved about 5 months ago, had someone rent my property (who didn't pay the rent or council tax). Since then i've ended up with my head completely in the sand......my house has been repossessed (my old neighbour told me there was a note on my door saying I had 14 days to remove all possessions) and yesterday the bailiff came knocking. I owed 3 months in total (I think), I stupidly told the bailiff I didn't know the person he was on about, then said I did and she stayed here, then said i'd try to get hold of her last night (i'm sure he saw right through me but I panicked). The amount is £338.62 + costs (written in red on the letter he gave me), he also told me that she was in serious trouble..... The letter states that 1. Payment in full is now due, please contact me on...... 2. At this stage I can offer you an arrangement to pay this deby by installments over a short period of time. Any arrangement to pay by installments is made subject to our bailiffs calling to your properlty and completing the relevant paperwork (this will incur a statutory fee) AND you making an immediate payment. I'm very scared. I've struggled so much over the past 2 years with family problems to the point where I do feel like I want to 'end things', I know that it's only money but it's a massive stress & I can't tell my husband, he'd be so disappointed, I need to sort this myself. I ended up in hospital with heart pains over the weekend (i'm only 37), this is due to stress of everything that's been going on, the pains have started again because of the bailiff. I'm sorry, I don't know how to start a new thread.....but I have put his name into the Certificated Bailiff and it doesn't come up, i've also put the name of the company in (Jacobs) and his name doesn't appear there, could it be somewhere else? Forgot to mention that we now privately rent and all the bills are in my Husbands name. Can anyone please help?
