  1. Yes my husband has informed the DVLA of a medical condition. I only ask because somewhere else on this forum someone had their licence revoked because the DVLA had been informed by the police that he was an unfit driver. His licence was revoked for 6 months without the DVLA looking into his medical history. My husband was sent a questionnaire to fill in which we are now awaiting the outcome. I just thought the DVLA always sent out a questionnaire to they could decide how to proceed.
  2. Can the DVLA revoke a licence on medical grounds automatically without investigating the medical history.
  3. Is vasovagal syncope considered a diagnosis by the DVLA. My husband had a fainting episode whilst in the car he sensed it was going to happen and managed to get the car off the road although by then he was passing out and knocked a road sign over. He was taken to hospital where they performed various tests, ECG, blood pressure, 12 hour heart monitor, blood tests and asked lots questions. He was released the next day and told that he had had a vasovagal syncope (simpled faint) take things easy for a couple of weeks and not drive for 4 weeks. He had a referral letter to his own GP who also did blood tests and another ECG all of which were clear. He is now waiting to see a cardiologist for a 24 hour heart monitor test. The police informed the DVLA who have sent him a questionnaire and permission to contact his doctor if necessary. He's been fine since this happened and we have put it down to a sickness bug that he probably caught off our granddaughter who had been throwing up for a few days. I also caught the bug a few days later. On the DVLA website they say syncope that happens at the wheel and unexplained the licence will be revoked for 6 months. So hence my questions is 'vasovagal syncope' and told not to drive for 4 weeks considered to be a diagnosis as no treatment is necessary. Sorry for the long post but it is very worrying waiting for communication from DVLA. Has anyone else been in this situation?
