  1. I bought a car on 24/06/2009. At home I noticed that the service history was probably faked - street name and post code on the last stamp do not corespond. Initially I thought that if the trader changes oil everything will be fine and I will accept the car. He said he would do it for me and told me to call next week. I called him on 29th 4 times - no reply. I took it to a main dealer for a service on 30th and they found some faults with the car - broken intercooler pipe, cracked alternator belt, brake fluid needs to be changed, low coolant level. So nothing really major. I also noticed that rear passenger door has been sprayed. I tried to contact him but no answer and no call back either so I decided to send him a letter stating that I am rejecting the car in accordance with SOGA - goods not as described and not of satisfactory quality. He called me straight away on 31st after receiving the letter. He offered me a full repair of the mechanical faults mentioned and stated that rear door was painted because of birds excrements. I told him I will let him know and I took my car to a body repair shop and the guy said that not only rear door was painted but also rear panel and front side panels too. There are also signs of fixing doorstep with a filler (I doubt bird's poop would do such a damage). I told him that I want a full refund because of all the above and that I will not use the car anymore. He then offered me £4000 for the car and said that "he's doing me a favour" (I paid £4180+£99 for service and inspection at the main dealer). I sent him another letter stating that I reject his offer of fixing all the mechanical faults as I lost faith in his honest as a trader. Today he offered me another great deal - he can sell the car on my behalf and give me the money back after the sale. Looks like it will end up in court. Am I being unreasonable in demanding a full refund for the car? Do you think he has got any chances to win in court? Do you think that cancelling my insurance would be a good idea now? I have the car for less than 2 weeks and if I cancel now I will not have to pay cancellation fee.
