  1. The more threads that I read the more confused I become!:-? So several questions in one post:wink: I am not in default with any of the cards but am only able to pay the minimum sum requested every month-interest rate now in the high 20's!] I would like to reclaim charges against my credit cards [i need the statements] so which is the recommended procedure or the one that is the most successful? I would like a copy [fat chance I know:)] of my CCA so is it the £1 postal order route or a Subject Access Request or is it now recommended to go straight to the CPR or is it an advantage to ask for the CCA & SAR at the same time albeit sent as separate requests? As I have both Visa & Mastercards with Barclaycard, would a separate request -and duplicate fees?- be required for each one? Dependant on the answers to the above, would they apply to any or all credit cards from other issuers? PPI is not an issue as I have successfully claimed on several occasions and it has proved to be very useful. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any advice
  2. My wife is disabled and has been in receipt of Disability Living Allowance at the middle rate for around 10 years. The DWP in their wisdom reduced this to the Lower Rate which we have been trying to overturn for some time. After many phone calls and form filling they have again rejected our application so in order to appeal their decision at an Independent Tribunal I sent a Subject Access request to them complete with a cheque for £10. This morning my wife received the cheque back with a covering letter ... Dear 'christian name'....have forwarded your letter in respect of data protection to Warbreck House who will be dealing with your request. They do not require your cheque. Is this normal--is no payment required for this request?
  3. #buzby Old software does not work properly with vista. #boris It's a C5280--being only semi computer literate how do I find out what scanner driver I'm using?
  4. #patdavis Some but not all of the functions on the 2210 all-in-one work with vista--the scan functions are particularly affected. It probably is a software issue--the scan quality is really only average at best. #raydetinu I don't see how I am able to perservere with HP if they decline to respond to my questions. I'll give PC World a phone and see if I can get connected to someone with some knowledge on this subject. [i'll cross my fingers but won't hold my breath] My gripe really is still with HP and their poor customer support--having twice been promised assistance and twice ignored loses them not only my future custom but possibly that of other people that I discuss this with. I'll post again if I get any joy from PC World.
  5. #Boris--where did I say that I've changed the operating system since buying the machine? I bought the new machine specifically for use with vista!
  6. My old machine a HP psc 2210 is not compatible with Vista--it was bought in 2001 and operated with XP. The new machine,a HP C5280 is compatible with vista. The problem is with the scanning--I use it primarily to scan in printed images mainly from old postcards where the quality of printing often leaves a lot to be desired. On my old machine the 'descreen' function was often needed to negate the moire effect --this produced a good scanned image. The 'descreen' function on the new machine fails to produce an acceptable image. Images scanned in with the old machine consistantly produce superior results than the new machine which was sold to me as being able to bring me up to date and away from the dark and technically inferior days of 2001! Printed images which scan well without using 'descreen' on the old machine come out very poorly even using all the available functions with the new machine. If I was only scanning photographs I would probably be very pleased with the new machine but my main requirement is to produce good scans of printed images which the new machine is unable to do.
  7. ''Support'' for all-in-ones runs at 5p per minute--I object to paying for what is likely to be a repeat of the poor advice I received from their email support. As far as I am aware the level of competant advice available is the same on email or phone support. I wish to reject the machine and after 3 months am no longer interested in following suggestions that will not solve the issue of the machines inferior scanning abilities.
  8. Briefly.. Bought HP all in one from PC World in January 2009. Quite happy with service and advise on choice of model. Despite perservering this model does not produce the quality of scans that I require -I was very happy with my seven year old model which 'did the business' for me but this old model was not compatible with my recent upgrade to Windows Vista which is why I needed the new model. Contacted HP's online support which appears to be US based. Explained my issues and followed their instructions to resolve them but these did not solve the problems. On the 20th Feb.2009 they emailed... ' I regret to inform you that the issue at hand is much complicated and need special attention. So that I am forwarding the case to the concern department and you will receive the reply at the earliest' I was patientbut received no further contact so on the 8th April I emailed... 'Have now waited for 9 weeks plus for response from UK regional support regarding service ticket no:8021956986. As you are obviously unwilling or unable to solve the issue I wish to reject the C5280 and receive a full refund. Please send me details of how I should return the item to PC World where it was purchased from'' They replied the same day with.. ''Thank you for contacting HP Total Care. *******, I have once again forwarded your information to UK regional support and you will be contacted at the earliest.'' So it's now the 21st April with no further response so how do I now proceed please?
