hi all have not used this site for a while , but im back with a problem and i was wondering if i can do anything about it , i opened an ebay account , and there is a way u can boost ur feedback , by buying feedback for 1p , so u pay 1p and u get a good feedback rating , anyways i did a few of these to get a reasonable rating and when u go thru to paypal it takes the penny from u , ( all good there so i thought ) anyways 3 days later i check my online banking ( with halifax) and find out that they have taken £1.50 charge for 5 of them transactions for a penny so thats £1.50x5 they have taken for 5x1p charges , i rang up halifax and complained about it , and they reckon they cant do anything about it , because they say that they do advertise that they do charge £1.50 for a transaction abroad whether it be for a penny or a pound... i have had a look on the travel section of halifax's website and cant see anything about them charging £1.50 for every foreign transaction u make then they reckoned its down to paypal not them , they seem to think paypal should advertise that banks will take money off u for making this transaction , any ideas what i can do ? i know its not a huge amount but its the principle of it tbh ty for any comments in advance cheers badboy09

u should get a booklet with in 14 days of ur travel with ur tikets in thats what i had from thomas cook b4 i went away in june , so dont panic and as for meals i flew out of cardiff with thomas cook and even though i had paid for meals i got them but so did everyone else ,,, they didnt check who had paid and who hadnt u just get handed them so if u get offered one just accept , im sure many others do lol and as for luggage im quite vague on that but i had 20 kgs luggage and i ame back with more but the airport in magaluf didnt take much notice so i myself wouldnt worry to much tbh hope some of that cleared it up for ya

so theres nothing that can be done at all , as to me ,this holiday was a waste of money and maybe there were other complaints about the contamination of the pool who knows ? mike

me and my partner booked a holiday to majorca from a company local to ourselves called regal travel, we were due to fly out on june 16th - 23rd june 09. The day came and we flew out to magaluf and we were booked to stay at the HOTEL FLORIDA in Magaluf from the moment we arrived till the moment we left was total hell , we had unpacked and decided to go and chill by the pool as we had arrived there by dinnertime and the sun was out , i had even brought all the suntan lotion needed for our supposed nice week away in magaluf but ... we decided to go for a dip in the pool and to sunbath for a bit , but that didnt last long , i had been in the pool for a matter of mins and i felt this agonizing pain on my back and shoulders , i was in pure agony , i got out and went back to my hotel room , dried myself while in pain , and went to look in the bathroom mirror with in the space of 15-20 mins my arms and shoulders had blistered up into big yellow blisters on both sides , i dabbed cold water on them , to ease some of the pain but it was unbearable , i took a trip down to the local english doctors , thinking my health insurance would cover it , but to my dismay it didnt i had to pay 20 euros to see the doc and another 30 euros for medication and cream to sooth the pain i was having with these blisters , the doctor had advised me that i had had an allergic reaction to something , i told him i had just been in the hotels swimming pool , and he explained that was more than likely the sorce of the allergic reaction , i have been abroad many times and it definatly was not sun burn , he advised that i use the medication that had been subscribed to me , and rest in the hotel room for the next few days , so i did , but even when i put a tee shirt or a shirt on i was in agonizing pain , i often went onto the rooms balcony to sit there and enjoy some sun , only to have to go back in the room cos the sun was burning on my blisters , i spent the next four days in my room , with so much frustration , i decided i had to go out , when me and my partner did venture out down to the hotel resteraunt for food as we had gone halfboard , but by the time we had got back , we noticed someone had been in our room , yet everytime we had gone out our room had been securely locked , we checked our belongings and noticed all our money had been stolen , we went down to the reception to complain , only to be fobbed off by the manager saying our staff have been here for years they dont do stuff like that , and also they dont have keys to ur rooms , i contacted the thomas cook rep who came to see us , and we explained what had gone on , and she told us she would have a word with the management , by now i was seething , we were stuck in magaluf with 6 euros and we wasnt due to fy home for another 3-4 days . the thomas cook rep told us that we could pay 40 euros to have an enterpretaur come to the police , and get us a crime number BUT we couldnt claim it back as we hadnt locked any of the money in the safe in the room , EVEN the sign in the lobby of the hotel tells us to be carefull with stuff in our rooms as they cant be held responsible for it , yet does that give them a right to help themselves ? SO the next day we were in our locked room , suddenly one of the staff entered our room and walked in after unlocking the door , which we had locked , they had a key AFTER telling us they didnt have one , i couldnt wait to get out of the hotel and back home to the uk , yet someone else in the hotel had left there holiday to go home after having 600 euros stolen from his room also , by this time it was roughly the sunday daytime ( 2 days b4 we were due to fly home ) then my partner came down with food poisoning , and as all our money had been stolen we couldnt afford to get medical help for her , so we spent the rest of the holiday in the hotel room , with us both recovering from the worst holiday we had ever had , to make matters worse THIS WAS HER FIRST TRIP ABROAD ..... is there a claim to be made against thomas cook as neither of us really had the holiday we had planned for ? any help would be appreciated ty ,

right heres an update to the situation she spoke to buy as you view this morning and asked if she had actually payed off any of the items that she had , even the original tv that shes had for over 3 and a half yrs , and they said NO because they said that everytime u get something else they readjust the finance so it kinda starts again so after all this time she has not payed off any items at all even with all them payments , CAN SHE send the items back and demand a refund or some sort of refund as for paying for all this time and still not owning any of the items shes being paying for over this period of time . thanx for any advice incoming ...

ty i will find out the info and keep you updated she was under the assumption that because she got another item every so often that when they keep redoing the agreements it just kept putting her back to the start of the agreement ... basically back to scratch even after 4 yrs ...

hi there i was just looking for some advice in regards to an issue a friend is having and they dont have the internet so im doing this for them ... they have been customers with buy as you view for about 4 yrs roughly and have never really missed a payment they are paying about 120 pounds every 8 weeks for the goods they have ie; tv, lcd tv, bed, dryer,nintendo ds , at this moment in time she is struggling to make a payment which is due as her income has been dramatically been cut to bearly nothing , and shes struggling at the moment , buy as u view are due round for a payment any day now , she is considering returning the goods but i have noticed on a previous thread ( brighthouse thread) that if u return the goods she might get some money back as she has nothing of theres , or ... considering she had paid for 4 yrs on the goods shes got, has she got any right to keep any of the items at all, shes worried that the amount of money she has paid she might end up with nothing at all , and would have wasted nearly 2 yrs of payments , and gained nothing , as the title says BUY AS YOU VIEW , so has she actually bought anything in the 2 yrs because everytime shes had something they redo the contracts and payment options , so she cant tell what shes actually payed for any help would be appreciated shes panicing at the moment ,

indeed if they dont take me to court then i expect them to turn up at my door and stand there with dummy in mouth and throw a tantrum or even go get there parents to come ask for the stuff back hahaha ty all for your answers they have been most helpfull ..

ty for all ur help but by the time friday comes round today that is they are telling me that i owe roughly 200 quid , so im gonna tell them where to shove it and let them get a county court letter to get stuff back cos im not paying over 200 quid just for being late by 1 week lol

ty for your responses i have 5 agreements with them and its totalling 50 quid a week but im not 2 weeks behind the amount of 162 quid was only after 3 days its been nowhere nr 2 weeks like i said this is only after 3 days and because even though its only been a few months they were happy to give me more credit if i needed it , i have friends who live up in nottingham and they were telling me that they missed a payment and they didnt get a issue from staff at brighthouse up there regarding them being late, and they didnt charge them anywhere nr what im being charged ...so just wondering if its only in different parts of uk they seem to have these arrogant staff problems lol

hi there and ty for reading in advance ... i have been with brighthouse about 4-5 months and never missed a payment infact 95% of the time i have payed b4 my payment date was due and the other 5% on the day ... anyways ... i got a couple of computers off them and recently a new tv and the amount i was paying was 50 pounds a week which didnt matter so much but this past week 15/3/09 to be precise i rang them and told them i couldnt make a payment today as i had a couple of problems and was wondering if i could pay it next week with any arrears owing , they seemed reluctant but said ok , anyway tuesday rolled by and a van came to my house and posted a debt note through my door telling them i now owe them 162 pounds ( after 3 days are they serious ) my partner rang them up (accounts in her name) and she was told that she broke the rules of the contract by not paying on time , HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH CHARGING 162 QUID AFTER 3 DAYS LOL i mean 50 pounds a week was ok for us to pay BUT theres no way i can pay 162 quid and every day the cost is rising , the once so friendly guy in the shop had now decided to give my partner a attitude problem on the phone by telling her pay it all up by friday ( which will them mean that shes gonna owe 200 pounds + ) or they coming to pick the stuff up . im not gonna let them in the door and im gonna tell them to get a court order to get this stuff back but can they do anything in the mean time , apart from rant and moan over the phone , fair enough i got a tv off them recently but to have a complete attitude change and them throw on a load of over rated charges on top making it to 162 quid after 3 days .... are they allowed to do that ?? and if i was to hand the stuff back would i get any payments back cos i have paid a fair bit at the moment , but where do i stand ?? and ty for any help in advance badboy09
