  1. The branches are shocking - at least our is - I have had all the usual threats regarding secuirty on the house. That was the basis of our complaint. I know they can't do anything for 1 missed payment that we have explained but that doesn't stop the threats and visits. not scared of them anymore though

Hi everyone - I have just been watching quietly for last few days but still here waiting with baited breath for these results. why are they not out yet???? it seems to be taking ages has there been any confirmation yet on when this will be? Expecting mail today from direct group/ Norwich Union as promised but mail doesn't come until later on so again another waiting game. Shella we got a default notice from branch on Friday saying we had missed 2 payments (we haven't we have just missed 1) but the figures didn't add up even to 2 payments. They had added £130 charges on in 3 weeks since we last had hand posted letter from them. I have logged a complaint with head office and they have the correct figure for our arrears so branch are playing silly b*****s. Just thought you should check carefully figures on that default notice:)
  3. not sure if this is what you are looking for but I have an initial disclosure doc sent out with loan pack it states the following: 'Important Information about our Insurance Services Welcome Finance is regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the selling of General Insurance. Our FSA register number is 305742. Our permitted business is the intermediation of General Insurance. You can check this on the FSA wesite www.fsa.gov.uk' It then goes on to give various details eg whose products do we offer?

I haven't gloucs but have managed to find it for myself thanks - complaint now logged with customer relations Had a call from welcomes 'legal' dept today threatening to take legal action on account - 1 month in arrears and call came from mobile - how desperate are they getting for cash now??????
  5. Hi again everyone I was just wondering if I want to make a complaint about a welcome branch who do I complain to? I also want to complain to someone outside welcome re: harassment and threats would that be FSA? I know its not related but would be grateful for the info many thanks

Thanks dadofholly - she said that it said in my agreement they could do door step visits - I said no it says in the agreement what you charge for door step visits it still doesn't mean you can do them Anyway they haven't taken any notice of my verbal requests so will now definitely do the written one
  7. Thanks Stewie - I did used to feel intimidated by them but since coming on here and reading all this brilliant advice I know I don't have to be anymore I sent my SAR off about a week and 1/2 ago no response as yet. I haven't done cca but might do this tomorrow

I hope that is the case - The whole thing is making my head spin - one minute I think I can get rid of them the next think it is never going to happen I suppose we just have to be patient but it is taking over my life. Had them at the door again tonight asking when I would be making this months payment as I don't answer phone to them. She actually implied that she had the right to be there because they had a charge on the property???? I put her straight on that one but something she said made me laugh - we told her we were onto them and their dodgy dealings (without giving anything away to her) and this is what she said and I quote ' don't be ridiculous cattles is a huge company do you think they would do anything dodgy???' you have suspended six directors need I say more
  9. looks pretty damning If there is undeclared commission payments what does it mean for our agreements? or does it just effect the insurance side of the agreement?

Thanks Andie This is why I am not taking it further - I knew I didn't understand it properly because there is so much conflicting information but I think basically Peter has checked it and it is right and it is written in terms and conditions - so I will just have to focus on the insurance issue now

I am the same Sammy - Peter checked my APR and ok but welcome have definitely added the fee to advance (fee seperate on agreement) before calculating charge for interest and then added the fee onto this to get total charge for credit. I am then led to believe that the Total charge for credit and total credit is used to calculate APR. so welcome have added it in before calculating APR. However welcome have written it in terms and conditions but to me it seems sneaky and underhand - anyway I have given up on this now as feel I don't understand it well enough to take it further at the minute

  15. he didn't answer phone as NU either I had to ask if it was NU but I did check by going through NU switchboard. However they don't have extension numbers??? just direct dial numbersI am suspicious as it was direct group that gave us the number - hope you get him tomorrow and give him a good grilling Direct group would not give us info :)Anyway better go and get kids to bed (I am neglecting them) will catch up later

Andie my hubby is now on phone to DG and they have first said they have no dealings with NU and then said someone is on the phone to NU at the minute.not sure what is happening as he is still on the phone (he is good when it comes to being persausive - he once got a replacement TV from argos when the kids had tipped it over)
  19. Thanks Andie - I also just spoke with them again and they told me the supervisor is still looking into it and is waiting for someone from NU to call back - asked if it would be today but was told not sure

Hi all : I am getting really frustrated now I have not had a call back from direct group manager as promised so I have tried to contact NU - I got 3 different numbers to try no-one knew of policy.Then I got given Halifax personal loans number?????Phoned the switchboard back and she said we have a number here for contacting which is for general enquiries. I asked if this number was NU and she said she didn't know just that it was a number for other than claims enquires regarding welcome finance.Guess What???? The number was for welcome finanace -This is just so annoying all I wan't to know is who is underwriting my policy and who gets my money NU must have details if they do.
  21. If there is a specialised department then they would still have records of you when you phone NU. It may take some digging about within NU but the records would still be there and NU would have to tell you so seems unlikely to me.I know what you mean about having to be almost rude - I hate being like this but feel I have no other option to get them to take me seriously

  23. called 0844 4124100 (in response to a letter received asking me to contact them regarding letter I sent to them - if that makes sense????) requested to know what payments were received from welcome by direct group and in turn what money was passed to NU Also wanted to know why NU have no record of policies
  24. Morning everyone I have just spoken with Direct group regarding policies myself and my husband hold for lifecare and personal accident. The person I spoke with was very polite but they have obviously been told what they can and can't advise. when asked why Norwich Union didn't have record of my policy I was told that 'no we administer the policy on behalf of Norwich Union' still doesn't answer why NU have no records of policy??? when probed on money received from welcome I was put on hold and few minutes later told I would get a call back from a manager. so I will keep you posted
