  1. Hi, I got a parking ticket from SIP today. I pay every day to park with them (and have a carrier bag full of tickets I've bought) however today my pound coins were not being accepted I paid for one hour, went to work with the intention of paying online and then got called into a meeting. my ticket ran out. I paid as soon as I could (2 hours after my ticket expired) but meanwhile they'd stuck a PCN on my window. Reading the forums it seems like a lot of hassle to try and evade the fine, with people even going to court to challenge it. If I pay the fine now it will be £35. If I leave it it will go up to £60. Should I just pay the £35 now? I have a template letter setting out a list of what they must provide me 'before I can make an informed decision on the matter' but surely by now they'll be prepared for such a letter which no doubt is doing the rounds on the internet. A friend sent me the template letter and says after he's sent it he's never heard from parking companies again - but he's a jammy s*d and I won't have his luck. Also the charge is discounted if paid with 24 hours the advice I've seen on this forum to 'ignore the windscreen notice' will surely cost me?
  2. Hi, Thanks for info however I've looked and looked and I cannot see any template. Which one is it? It may not be necessary to resort to writing a letter to them. If I go and see them they might sort something out. I just don;t know what to expect from them i.e what my rights are. Does anyone know? The way I see it its either: 1) I pay for a clutch and flywheel and they fit it for free (because it should have been fitted when they had the gearbox out) 2) I shouldn't have to pay for a clutch and flywheel because its their fault. There was nothing wrong with the clutch when I took it to them. They examined the car and found nothing wrong with clutch. In fact it wasn't even the gearbox that had a problem, it was the differential (that was connected to the gearbox). As soon as they gave it back to me the clutch clearly had developed a problem. Also over the 4 weeks they had it they kept saying they were having problems getting the right parts and when I collected it they said they didn't put a new one in in the end, instead they had it reconditioned but don't worry that actually cost more than a new one!!!???!! It all stinks to me. Thanks in advance for any further advice/feedback from anyone.
  3. I took the car to the garage because it sounded rough. They kept it and looked at it and said it was the gearbox. Instead of taking 4 days as they said it would I didn't get it back for 4 weeks (I felt they were having problems with it). After driving it for a few of days I can feel the clutch peddle shuddering and making a slight noise and its hopped out of reverse gear twice. I looked at the invoice and it says at the bottom: Advisory: will need a new clutch and flywheel! Note: 1) the clutch was not shuddering or slipping out of gear before they changed the gearbox. There was nothing wrong with it. 2) they changed the clutch and flywheel 18 months ago so I wasn't surprised when they didn't say that needed changing too. 3) I know if the clutch and flywheel need changing as well as gearbox the garage should tell you this. 3) if Id have known it needed a clutch and flywheel as well as a gearbox I may very well have decided to scrap the car and use the £1000+ to get a new one. Before I go and see them and they start fobbing me off what are my rights on this?
  4. Reading into it I think working tax credit is the way to go, not income support. The tax credit website says I can visit the JobCenter Plus place to discuss and get more information so I'll do that. I'll explain to them my circumstances and hopefully they will be able to help. I'll report back with my findings!
  5. I am now generating a very small, variable and unreliable income from a website. The income varies: in Jan it was £198, in feb it was £359. I am currently on carers allowance and with that I am entitled to earn £95 a week. What if for one month I earn on average £110/week but the next month I earn £30/week? Also, £198/month is not enough to live off, neither is £350/month. What benefits should I go for given the income is highly variable? Average hours worked: say 7/week (it runs itself) If I didn't have the website I would apply for income support to top up the carers allowance and hence get housing benefit etc. I was going to apply for this but Ive held back because I think its the wrong thing to go for.
