  3. Hi everyone, Im new to this site and as I live in N.Ireland i am just wondering if it is legal for my bank to take £25 fees from our joint acc and business acc on a numerous basis. The bank is the Northern Banks, which has just been taken over by the Dansk Group. My husband has a business acc and he pays out large sums in VAT and often waits up to 3 months for money paid in, so sometimes Direct debits can return unpaid with a fee of £25, or Cheques unpaid with fee £25....and on many occassions the bank has charged 3-4 £25 fees within space of a week. We also have a joint acc with this bank which if it goes over its overdraft and direct debits are returned we are charged £25 fees. Recently during the change over to Dansk bank, all e-banking facilities where shut down and we were unable to transfer money from Business acc to Joint Current acc and because direct debit were returned they charged 5 x £25 fees, in space of a week, but when we complained they swiftly returned the £100 to our account. Now after reading all this stuff about claiming back for period of 6 years Im wondering if we can also do this, as I just thought when you sign the contract opening the accounts this gives bank right to charge these fees. Any help or advice welcome Many thanks JaneC:-|
