  2. Just an update, after representing myself at court I was found not guilty....... ill still be getting another NIP through the post, better make sure i send this one recorded delivery lol what a farce tho
  3. cheers for the reply, yes hence my confusion with them addin speeding to the sheet in the first place. like you say all ive got as a defence is that i posted it.......... oh no you didnt panto comin up..... this must happen alot, ridiculous really
  4. Hi all, Need a bit of advice on this one, I'll try and be as brief as possible. Received an NIP July last year saying my car had been flashed speeding 40mph in a 30mph. It wasn't me driving at the time, so I filled in the required details and sent it off.... . Didn't hear anything for months (not even a reminder) until I received a court summons for the charge of failure to provide info. Needless to say I was shocked and upset..... I didnt have any proof of postage so it was their word against mine. Went to magistrates court for the hearing which I was further shocked to find out theyd added the speeding charge to the charge list (which didn't make sense to me). I plead not guilty to both and received a new trial date for end of January. Just received a notice of discontinuance regarding the speeding charge saying there is not enough evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction. However I'm still having to go to court over the failure to provide information....... Is this right? How can I defend or be prosecuted for failing to provide information regarding a speeding offence they are no longer pursuing? Its all very confusing and a complete farce really (plus waste of taxpayers money) Also if the speeding charge is dropped what does this mean for points and fines? Many thanks for your time.
  5. Youre absolutely right, i was just concerned about taking on the might of hsbc over a small sum (to them). so i guess my next move while im waiting for my credit card statements is sending the 'prelim approach' letter
  6. do you think its worth it then for a 100 quid?, i see you were successful with your astronomical sum, congratulations for that
  7. Well ive been through six years worth of statements, phew. It looks like ive been pretty lucky though, apart from overdraft interest and cash machine charges, the only stand out charges were a £10 bankers draft setup charge(which is probably reasonable) and a random £100 "Total charges" which sprung up out of the blue. So thats it on that account £110 max if indeed they are claimable. Compared to the £1000s that some people have been charged it hardly seems mentioning lol. What do you think? Im still waiting for me credit card statements, i know they loved charging me on that one.
  8. cheers, glad you mentioned the cash machine charges, I would have included them. what about debit interest?
  9. oh also meant to ask whether i should write back to them about the lack of credit card statements? could i threaten them with the data protection ombudsman?
  10. Well I recieved alot of mail last week, 6 years worth lol. Though they still havent sent me my credit card statements . Now what exactly am i mean to be focussing on here, how do i identify the charges or interventions, are they ones with DR before em? I just want to be clear on the procedure. cheers
  11. Sent out the request for information letter to head office (rather than my local branch). Got a reply yesterday and me 10 pounds back . Heres the reply. "thank you for your enquiry with regard to information about transactions and charges on your account. We will forward to you copies of statements covering the period in question. These will begin to arrive in seperate batches and will be with you shortly. We are happy to waive any fees for the production of this information, and we return your payment which was attached with your request. Although many of our systems are automated, a "manual intervention" by HSBC staff may be required in a variety of situations including account opening, dealing with correspondance or telephone calls, when deposits or withdrawels are made over the counter at our branches and from time to time during account administration. if you require more information, please let us know. " There you go, balls rolling. What are they trying to weasel out of in that last paragraph??
  12. cheers so i have a choice of branch manager (which i presume is the one my account sort code refers to) or the head office. wonder which would get the better response?
  13. thanks for the reply. now could anyone advise me on which address to send the dpa letter to. Im told to send it to the address that is registered with the dp commision, but there seem to be loads for hsbc
  14. Hi, new to the site, on the DPA letter can i ask for info on multiple accounts ie my main bank account and my creditcard account, or do i have to send seperate letters? cheers
