  1. No, I meant I couldn't get the old statements from my bank to confirm when I made the 1st payment on the 1st loan.
  2. Again, I've no idea and haven't got any of the old loan paperwork bar the £4K one, so I have no way of checking. I can't even get the information from my bank as they don't hold records that far back
  3. No, I phoned them and asked if I could claim, and also that I had some but not all paperwork. They then sent me that letter you've seen.
  4. Ok, so please forgive my ignorance, what should the amounts be, and what should the total refund be?
  5. Hi DX100UK, My question was more in relation to the interest repayment. And the link you posted doesn't really answer that question, unless I read the information in the link incorrectly. Should the interest being paid back be worked out as simple interest or compound interest?
  6. Hi folks, I've had a final offer back on a PPI claim dating back to 2001, they've offered me all the payments back with 'simple' interest at 8%. Should they have offered 'compound interest' or is simple interest the norm? The company in question is NRAM who taken over the PPI claims for northern rock. They also said that as the claim was over 6yrs old, they'd assumed I'd been making payments on the 1st loan for 12mths, and used those figures as part of the calculation. Does this sound about right? Thanks in advance.
  7. All sorted now. Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated. Cheers
  8. Oh, as for the repair, at least they leave a 'loaner' tv whilst mines is in the repair shop.
  9. The kit only works with the ES series tv's. the F series already have the 'kit' inbuilt which makes the kit I've bought redundant. I can't return it to the shop as Currys won't accept it as a return as there's nothing wrong with it. To start again from scratch and get the same tv is going to cost me an extra £500 for the warranty I already have for free, and the newer model of my tv is an extra £700. Either way I appear to be stuffed! I wouldn't mind paying the extra but my tv is only 12wks old, hence my frustration!
  10. Having now searched the Internet, to replace my current tv with the same model and 5yr warranty, it's going to cost me an extra £499. What on earth should I do now? Seems like I'm stuffed either way I turn. Surely the original retailer of the TV must be liable for the extra costs now involved. Whichever way I go, this is going to end up costing me between £240 and £700.
  11. Hi folks, Really need some help here with a retailer. I bought a Samsung TV (UE55ES8000) from a particular retailer as they normally have fantastic customer service should anything go wrong. I've had the tv for just under 3 months and it's developed several faults. The main one being the main card which sees any device that's plugged into the tv. This was noticed when I bought the Samsung evolution kit (£240 from a different retailer) to upgrade my tv. I plugged the kit into the tv and nothing happened. I assumed I'd bought a broken evolution kit and returned it to the retailer the next day. I've since bought another and that one had the same issue. I tested it on a friends tv and it worked fine on his. I phoned my tv retailer and a repair man was sent to have a look at it. As stated earlier, the TV has several faults which the repair guy confirmed. The TV retailer immediately offered to replace the TV and this is where things start to get complicated! They no longer stock my model so offered me a replacement of the newer F series which is £100 cheaper than my tv, and they'll refund the difference. I've declined as the newer series version that they're offering is a lower spec than the one I have. I've asked them to replace with the F8000 but they've refused as its £700 more expensive than the one I bought. I've explained that I can't return the evolution kit as there's nothing wrong with it, and the evolution kit effectively brings my current tv up to the same spec as the new F8000. If I accept their upgrade version, I'm out of pocket by £240 with a TV of a lower spec. If I accept a refund, I then have the hassle of trying to replace my current tv which is not going to be easy, as there'll be a gap between being refunded, and my new tv arriving. I also work away from home so installing it also becomes an issue. Can I insist that they repair my tv? Where do I stand legally with regards to the extra costs associated with what I stand to lose in the way of time and hassle to source and instal a new one, and my family being without a TV until I return home? Your help is appreciated. Cheers.
  12. OK, short version;) I was unfairly dismissed from my job back in July '09 and subsequently was advised to used the services of a firm of well known solicitors. The solicitors were advised of the particulars of the case and agreed to represent me on a 'no win no fee' basis. The paperwork and contingency fee arrangement were sent to me and arrived on the morning I was flying out for a well deserved holiday. I phoned the solicitors and advised them of my return date to UK and explained that I would return the paperwork to them on the very next day. According to the solicitors, they never received the signed paperwork even though other post that was mailed at the same time, arrived at it's destination:? Several phonecalls were placed with the solicitors call team, but no response was ever received.Yeah, I know - I should have panicking then!:-| The solicitors claim that they sent me a letter early September warning me they were closing my file, but this was never received by me. I hand delivered a copy of the original paperwork to the solicitors office ( a 100 mile round trip) and explained the communication problems I was having. They said they would crack straight on with my case and update me at a later date. 2 weeks later I finally get a phone message left by the person dealing with the case telling me that they need either a long phone call, or an appointment with me. I respond immediately leaving a voicemail with the solicitor which took yet another week to be returned:-| The appointment was made for a meeting at the local office. The day before the appointment, I receive a letter stating that the solicitors were now no longer able to continue with my employment tribunal claim as the statutory time limit had now passed. There was a hand written compliments slip attached to the back of the letter telling me that the appointment could still go ahead:? So, I met with the guy and he informs me that; a) he's sorry about the screw-up b) I had a very strong case against my former employers which is why they accepted the case on a no win no fee basis. c) that I should consult with another lawyer about the possibility of persuing a professional negligence claim against his firm, and that he had already consulted with one of the senior partners of the firm, and written an explanation letter to his firms' insurance company:-o My dilemma is that it was never really about the money with my old employers, it was more the principal. Now however, I've been unemployed nearly 5mths and the savings have almost ran out, with no prospect of employment in sight:cry: I did a quick online damages assessment of what I could have possibly been awarded at a tribunal and it was just shy of £60k. Now that would have been very nice indeed and would have been just the kick in the pants my former employer needed. I'm assuming that I can claim this back as damages from the solicitors should I win, and I'm assuming from the old solicitors revalations that this appears to be a probability. So, does anyone have any previous experience of this type of saga, or can recommend a fantastic solicitor who knows how to use a phone? Thanks in advance.
  13. I don't have a credit agreement with the estate agent but I do want to know what details about me/house/letters and conversations they have as I intend to use this as part of my defense. Should I use the CPR Letter template or something else? Thanks again. Oh, my mistake with leaving the EA name on the contract and both myself and the EA did sign the contract, but not my former partner.
  14. PLEASE help me here folks, I can honestly say I'm crapping my pants about this and I feel that time is running short. What do I need to do?
