  1. Hi there, I am writing on behalf of a friend who is going through some trouble with Barclays. He is in arrears with them for two months, as before Barclays were taking random amounts from his current account on random dates. This has left him in rent arrears and unable to survive without asking for help from family and friends. My friend works part-time and in receipt of disability benefits which Barclays also help themselves to. My friend wants to make a offer of repayment to what he can afford so that he can also be on track with priority bills such as rent and utilities. Barclays phone and text him daily whilst at work and keep sending letters every two days which is stressing him and causing hindrance on his disability. Is there anyone who can advise or help draft a letter to resolve the situation? Many thanks
  2. Luckily my bank are not charging me for the bounced direct debit as my wages went in the same day. My bank were even confused as to why o2 would be so unreasonable, if there wasn't money in my account or i totally ignored the bilI then they would be within reason to charge the reconnection fee. I will probably call O2 today and hopefully speak to someone different who isn't a jobs-worth and get my phone reconnected. I have reported the situation to ofcom awaiting feedback from them regarding this.
  3. Hi bankfodder, thank you for your response. The date that O2 tried to call for the direct debit was the same day my weekly salary went into my account. I did ask my bank why the direct debit was refused, they informed me that O2 must of called for the DD at a time before my wages went into my account that same day. The £15 reconnection fee is referred to in the contract and the rather rude unhelpful lady at the payments management dept constantly quoted my payment was made late despite the fact I paid by debit card to bring the bill up to date after the failed direct debit. I stressed this to the lady on the phone but she was adamant even though the bill is up to date I still must pay the reconnection fee and I refused. I would understand if I didn't pay the bill at all but it seems to me O2 want to try and pull a fast one just because I paid via debit card. The phone is still disconnected although the bill has been paid, I have sent an email letter of complaint to O2's complaint review dept, they don't have a telephone number to speak to anyone in the complaints dept apparently. What rights do I have? Would I be entitled to compensation for the time I've paid for a service and not being provided with it at all?
  4. Hi all, My phone was disconnected on Thursday 9th January for both incoming and outgoing calls due to a failed direct debit which was taken out on 7th January 2013. There was money in my account to cover the payment but for an unknown reason this was returned. I called O2 on 9/1/2013 to make payment via debit card which was successfully paid and brought the account up to date, however upon speaking to the payment management team I was told to pay an extra £15 reconnection fee on top. I refused to pay the fee as I had paid the bill in full via debit card due to the problems with the direct debit not going through. I was also told if I don't pay the £15 fee I would be permanently disconnected and have to pay early termination fees for the duration of the contract, despite the fact the bill has been paid in full via alternative payment method. I now have no use of my phone and as I am a carer for a disabled relative I cannot contact them due to the ineptitude and slackness of O2's poor service. What rights do I have, the bill is up to date?! Advice appreciated thanks:-x
  5. I am enquiring on behalf of a friend. He parked in a pay and display area, paid for his parking at 12:17pm, he would have to return to his vehicle at 13:17 to avoid a ticket. Unfortunately he received a PCN from an Islington council parking warden at 12:23pm. The ticket stated a contravention code 12T "parked in a residents or shared use parking place or zone without either clearly displaying a valid permit or voucher or pay and display ticket issued for that place, or without payment of the parking charge." This is utter nonsense as the parking was paid for (my friend still has the pay and display ticket) and was clearly visible in the cars windscreen. There was loads of P signs to park and the pay and display machine was near the vehicle. My friend is a carer for his uncle and always parks outside his uncles residence paying and displaying his ticket every time. This issue must warrant an appeal? Advice would be appreciated thanks
  6. Hi all, I need urgent advice. I was previously street homeless for a week until my local council took me in for emergency housing last Monday. I have been placed in temporary accommodation a distance away from my local borough. I have also been diagnosed with severe depression for the past 4 months. I applied for a crisis loan last week to help me cover food costs. Living in London as you know is very expensive, and I've had to use that money to travel to see my GP, the housing department and IAPT counselling services who are helping me through my depression. All these services are based in Westminster borough and I'm currently in the Waltham Forest Borough where my temporary accommodation is located. It is a two hour commute by bus from the accommodation to access my health services, which I can barely afford. I rang crisis loans today to apply for another loan as I am in severe hardship, they refused as they cannot offer another loan until the current loan period has passed. The woman I spoke to on the phone was rather rude and insensitive to my situation. Today I got my new prescription for my medication as I ran out of tablets, the crisis loan lady said that's not her concern as crisis loans don't cover medication but I am entitled to money off costs off medication via the nhs, but you are not entitled to this until income support is assessed and approved (still pending as explained to crisis loans). I was told my local job centre would have access to organisations that can help, I can't even get there as its two bus rides and have nothing to put on my oyster card to travel there. Walking is out of the question as it is far. I used my last bit of money today to travel to the GP. No food, cooking equipment, money, medication or clean clothes - please could somebody point me in the right direction, I feel nauseous from not eating since yesterday and not taking my medication is going to affect my state of mind in regards to my depression. Any advice appreciated.
  7. Hey fellow caggers. I am now in the process of putting together my claim in court against barclaycard. I have drafted up the POC (i read through shelly's posts which helped me out) the only thing i need to obtain is the TOC's at the time the account was opened (September 2004). Would anyone have access to this information so I can put this in with my claim? Many thanks
  8. Anyone here to point me in the right direction? help please!
  9. Hi all, I was meant to get paid on 28th August (the 28th is our contractual pay day). Checked my account and found my wages wasn't there. I rang my HR department to find out what the issue was, the lady i spoke to was very apologetic and admitted error that they had not processed it. I was advised that the finance department are looking to raise an emergency payment and would be in my bank account by 3pm, if not by then first thing the following day in the morning. I have checked my account this morning and STILL no wages are in my account. I am very concerned and stressed out about this, I had to cancel a counselling appointment yesterday and also was due to attend a doctors appointment today as I am currently off work due to severe depression and stress but won't be able to now as I have not been paid. Where do I stand with this? Work have also not contacted me to give me an update of the situation. Any advice appreciated
  10. Hi all, would anyone be able to assist me with writing a POC to shop direct? They have ignored both my preliminary letter and LBA and passed deadlines. I want to make a claim in court. Any help appreciated
  11. UPDATE: Barclaycard have responded to my 2nd LBA with their standard letter saying "they have received my complaint and aim to resolve the matter within 8 weeks." Do I wait the 8 weeks or can I proceed with the court route, as they have gone over my 14 day time limit. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
  12. UPDATE - Sent LBA 3 weeks ago, still no written response from Shop Direct. So now obviously the next route is court, I will need some advice on how to produce the POC to send to the courts in relation to the charges. Any help appreciated thanks
  13. Hi there laughinggirl. I rang up my bank (barclays) although they were hesitant at first, as apparently they have new "terms and conditions" in regards to dealing with loan brokers they didnt want to refund me any money but I remained strong and adamant that the payment is reversed to my bank account asap. Barclays said they will record this as fraud and refund the money to my account. I need to fill in some forms that they will send in the post. These loan broker companies must be shut down for extorting money out of people it is ludicrous how our details can be passed around to people!
  14. Their website is very misleading as I did not go to them direct. Ive done research on other review/consumer websites about My Loans and they have quite a notorious reputation for NOT refunding their customers who clearly dont need their services! Phone call to my bank next I think.
