  1. Hey, they're dealing with us too and we have serious complaints against them. Who do I need to contact, either at HSBC or any of the agencies investigating them.? We can certainly add to the categories of 'misdemeanors' !
  2. I have just been working through my husbands accounts and trying to deal with his debt. Going through his Halifax current account I can see a direct debit for his Halifax Visa Card (one of the accounts he is being chased for!) Having done a spreadsheet showing payments from his Current Account (and additional payments) I have noticed that the DD payments don't seem to have been credited to his Visa Account! Most of the additional payments are showing, including unauthorised cash payments to Halifax, (I don't have his Visa statements going back as far as his Current Account) but not the DD. He only had one CC with Halifax and I still have the confirmation of DD from Halifax. He changed his current account to A+L in October but some of the DD weren't in place in time and Moorcroft Debt Recovery are on the case. He still has £900 in his current account but has no means of accessing it (no cheque book or ATM card) and the Halifax are refusing to close it, saying that, as he is behind with his Visa card they are drawing on these funds (and not the full amount either, so I guess the interest will increase etc!!!!!) each month until the debt is paid (full debt on Visa is £4k) What's my next step!!!!! I have already asked for a list of charges on the credit card and requested copies of the Credit agreement.
  3. After months of phone calls about my husbands debts, logging phone calls, asking for contact to him being in writing only, explaining that the phone line is mine not his, I found a way around! I opened a bank accountwith the same bank - HSBC! The next time we were woken at 8am on a Sunday morning, I logged everything then called them back. I asked why they were phoning me.Obviously there were no notes on my file and they could give no explanation. They then told me that if it was important they would call me back. I told them that this was unacceptable and that I didn't want to be called back. I then e-mailed the bank customer services and explained that I was being disturbed by phone calls, morning noon and night. There was no reason for these phone calls as my account was in credit and I even mentioned my husband's debts. I highlighted that this was an invasion of MY privacy and, as a customer of the same bank, was looking to report this harrassment. I requested that they removed MY telephone number from their automated calling system. I received a very apologetic letter from the head of Customer Services and since then, no phone calls!!!!! Not one! I highly recommend this, if you can manage to get someone at the same address to open an account with £1! After 8 months, we have peace and quiet!
