  1. Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into how much it would cost for Samsung to check it over etc, if it was proven that the fault was inherent would Dabs also cover the cost of the report? Just my luck to get a faulty set, even if I did get all the necassary information a partial refund isn't going to come close to buying another one. Oh well, guess I'll have to stick to watching I-Player on my laptop for now. Thanks again for the info.
  2. Can anyone gelp me with this as I want to get the ball rolling as it were. I'm going to contact Dabs and basically explain to them that it is faulty, but other than that I don't know what else to mention. Is it best to keep SoGA to yourself until its totally neccasary to mention it, or is it better to throw it in straight away. Any advice at all on this would be much appreciated, I checked the consumer direct website and it says : 'If you have used it more than a few times or have had a reasonable opportunity to check them, you are probably still entitled to a repair or replacement. A repair should be carried out within a reasonable period of time and without causing you significant inconvenience. Any repair should restore goods to a satisfactory condition. If this does not happen, you are entitled to a replacement or compensation. This could be a sum of money or the cost of hiring a temporary replacement, or perhaps the loan of a replacement.' but I don't know how far this applies, as I've had it nearly three years. Thanks in advance, J
  3. Little update on this. I attempted contacting Samsung about the matter and after about 20 minutes typing out a full explaination of what I'd tried and using their form to send it to them, I got a reply basically suggesting I try things I had already blatantly told them I'd tried, and then when I tried to reply I realised I had to go and use the form again, copying the whole back and forth in first. I decided to leave the Samsung route after talking to someone on here with a similar problem, who told me that once I was out of my warranty they wouldn't really give me the time of day. I'm going to try Dabs, but just wanted to know if I'm within my rights with it all. Although the TV is over 2 years old, I don't believe it was fit for purpose when I bought it, however I have never had cause to check the VGA out slot until now and so have not realised the fault. I think Dabs will want an indepenent report, am I able to reclaim the cost of this from them if it is found to be that the tv was faulty when sold to me? Thanks in advance, Jay
  4. Hello, Firstly, great site as I'm sure everyone who posts here has said, it's helped me with a few problems in the past but this is the first time I've needed to actually post myself and I'm hoping someone has advice that can help me, because for want of a better term, this problem is 'doing my head in'. My Problem I purchased a Samsung LE27T51B in April of 2006, and although it isn't the best tv in the world I was happy enough with it, until a few days ago when I decided I'd use it as a monitor for my PC/Laptop. I bought a VGA cable from Tesco's (not the best quality lead in the world, but adequate for what I needed) and went about setting up my laptop to run through it. Plugged it in and there on the screen was a mirror of my laptop in all its glory...for about 3 seconds. Then it cut to black with the message 'Check Signal Cable'. I tried every 'fix' I could find on the internet, changing resolutions, turning everything off and starting from scratch etc and nothing seemed to work, every time I would get 2-3 seconds of picture, then this message. I tried another laptop and my desktop, all with the same results, and I tried my laptop on my pc monitor with the same cable and it worked no problems. After another scour of the internet I found this post on a message board Edit which seems to be a very similar matter, and I have found a number of posts on the same forum that seem to have exactly the same problem, but with no reply. Armed with this info I spent about 15 minutes tapping out an e-mail to Samsung, detailing the fault, what I had done to try and fix it and so on, today I received a reply asking me if I had done x,y and z, all of which I had already mentioned in the email that I had done, and then told me if it was a Sony Vaio then it wouldn't work at all (which it isn't). Just wondering where I should go from here really. It seems it is a manufacturing fault and not a developed fault so I didn't know if that affected how I'd deal with it. Basic Details Purchased in April 2006 from Dabs.com Warranty was 12 months Model No. Samsung LE27T51B Laptop I am trying to connect is an Acer 5920 with Intel 965 Express Chipset Family (but have also tried a Dell and a custom built Desktop) Hope this is enough info, if any more is needed I'd be happy to provide. Thanks in advance, Jay:)
