  1. Read the FAQ pompey, and it will get you underway, it is worth the effort. I have let mine lapse after a good start. Are you a fratton faithful member?
  2. I have just filled my preliminaryt approach letter and filled in the simple charges spreadsheet, without the 8% interest calculation, is this the right way to do this. I have just read about this and i am slightly confused. Please help, i want to send this off tonight as i have already delayed for too long.
  3. I have not received all of my statements, and according to the guide i need to report the bank for not doing so. I am also a bit late with this by a couple of weeks does this matter? I have managed to find most of my statements myself, and i have downloaded the spreadsheet and i am starting to compile my list of charges. Can i send this list off or should i report them and wait. In the meantime abbey are chasing me for my oversue account balance and they are adding interest at quite a ridiculous rate, i am worried that this will escalate and start to have a negative effect on whatever they give me back. Please Help. Adrian
  4. Posted DPA letter recorded delivery today, and sent them a £25 per month offer to pay off my £2300 overdraft which, has accumulated because of charges this year. I paid my overdraft off last jan, but it has spiralled again. Will wait and see what happens.
  5. I am sending my letter tommorrow, i have finally taken the plunge, after reading the posts on this forum. Abbey have charged me nealy £900 in the last two months. I have switched my account, because i couldnt afford to bank with them any longer. I made sure that they couldn't take their charges by emptying mu account, and putting the money to better use, so they have now charged me for the charges? They are unbeleivable. Looking forward to the oncoming battle.
  6. Should i also send a copy to the same address, to the collection department. I intend to tell them that i am seeking to reclaim charges levied against my account and would like to have my account frozen, until the issues are delat with.
  7. Thank you. I also need to send a reply letter to Abbey as they have put my account in the hands of the debt collection department. I think i saw a letter template on here recentely.
  8. Can anybody please tell me which address to send the DPa letter to ?
  9. I was going away for a couple of days, in my haste and anxiety i took the advice of hsbc, because they had closed my account by mistake, about two weeks after it opened, because they thought it was dormant ? I took the cheque in to abbey, and should have expressed the cheque and charged hsbc, but i didn,t. i am going to see the manager on saturday at hsbc, to sort it out, they have mentioned compensation and will look into how the mistake happened.
  10. I have used the dpa letter, to send to Abbey, as my bank account is now unworkable as they keep taking huge amounts of charges. I switched my account to HSBC, who have totally mismanaged switching my account and direct debits. They returned my salary cheque, so i went into the local branch, to be told it is an error. They advised me to put the cheque into my abbey account. Most of my direct debits have bounced and my cheque has not been cleared yet. Should i have waited until, i had sorted my account. I dont know what to do really, i have thought about a loan to pay off my overdraft, to return my account to normal. I will still send my dpa letter and get the ball rolling. any advice would be most welcome. Adrian
