  1. Hi, thanks for the response! I've paid the plumber and will wait and see what happens. It's looking like it may well be the roof leaking, however will have to wait on some appreciable rain. Regards, ML
  2. Hi, everyone. It's been some time since I've used this forum and everything has changed about so I apolgise if this isn't the correct place for this post. A couple of years ago I had a new shower installed and there were a couple of leaks into my below neighbour's property as the shower hadn't been sealed properly. These leaks happened almost immediately when I was using the shower. This was all fixed and everything was fine for a about a year and a half, then leaks started again. The leak into the neighbour's place is coming through their light fixtures, which is the same as the old leaks however, the difference now is that the leaks are sporadic and are happening hours or days after I've used the shower, and I've noticed the past couple of times it leaked was when there was heavy rain, and I think the issue is with the roof, rather than my property. I asked the letting agent to check the roof, but they are demanding I get a plumber in to check my property, and I'm happy to do this and pay if the issues are with my property however, I asked them for an address to forward the invoice to if my property is shown to not be at fault and they just replied and stated I had a legal obligation to check it wasn't from my property. I live in an typical Edinburgh tenament and I'm wondering if it's correct that I would need to pay for a plumber to check my property, even if the issue isn't my fault? Thanks for reading, ML
  3. Thanks again. I had to say which dept I wanted, then key in my DOB and listen to Coldplay for an hour, before I hung up.
  4. Thanks for the response. It's Verint that they use, AFAIK, if that makes a difference?
  5. Hi, folks. Just wondering if anyone can help with a query. I had a complaint that was resolved by British Gas and would like the informtion deleted under the GDPR's provision for the right to be forgotten. I made several calls, but hung up, as I was sick of waiting, and then decided to email. Thing is, on one of the calls where I hung up (was waiting for more than an hour), I was having a discussion in the background about a sensitive work related topic and I'm a bit concerned it may have ben picked up by their call recording system. I wasn't actually holding the phone, at this point, but had left it on a table on loudspeaker, so I could hear when the call was answered. Does anyone know if BG would review the calls I requested to be deleted, even if no-one had answered? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi folks. I was wondering, out of interest, if someone could use the LIBOR scandal as a way of getting a default removed from their credit file? I've seen some responses from banks, when asked to remove a default, that they would not because they believed it was correct to place the default on the customer's credit file because it was "a true and accurate reflection of the customer's financial situation at the time", but surely it wasn't, if the banks had been fiddling LIBOR, as this affects credit card interest rates, loan interest rates, etc? Thanks for reading, ML
  7. Thanks, guys. I've emailed honeybee, but I'll send the text to that address. Cheers
  8. Please can an admin contact me by PM, urgently? Sorry for the brief message, but I'm trying to play safe.
  9. Hi, folks. I lost my job in October last year and so had to stop paying my loan with Halifax, as I didn't have any money apart from JSA. I kept getting text messages and phonecalls, which I didn't answer, as I've been stressed out not having a job, and I didn't want to speak to them. However, I realised I couldn't let this go on and so spoke with Blair, Oliver, Scott today, and they mentioned I had been defaulted (I understand they are part of HBOS), and this notice would be on my credit file. I came to an arrangement with the lady I spoke to to pay £20 a month back, but I'm wondering if there is any way to get the default lifted, given my circumstances. Would it help to write a letter explaining how I was feeling, etc? The reason I ask is because I have an interview for a job with a financial services firm, and they do a credit check. Thanks in advance, ML
  10. Thanks for the replies, UncleB and FeeBee. My mum doesn't have accidental loss cover, but the standard cover she has only mentions that she wouldn't be covered for loss of valuables left out in the open, and these items weren't. FeeBee's description is of what happened is correct.
  11. Thanks for the reply, dx. So my mum is entitled to claim then? If they are being belligerent, what steps can she take to get the money she's entitled to?
  12. Hi, everyone. A few months ago it seems that my mother may have thrown out jewellery totalling about £9k. She hadn't been wearing them as they reminded her of her previous marriage, which had been unhappy. She has been trying to claim it on her insurance, but the insurance company are refusing to pay. I can see that her policy covers losses of valuables up to £10k with a single item limit of £2k. None of the items were named on her policy, as none of them were worth more than £2k. It's my understanding that anything below this doesn't need to be named. Could someone please confirm if this is correct, as the insurance company is saying they should have been named? Thanks in advance
  13. Thanks for the reply, dundeelaw. Are you sure that that is the case? I recently tried to get a mortgage with HBOS, and could only get a maximum of 67% LTV due to the late/missed payments from BM. I was watching the screen when the advisor was keying the application, and it flashed up a message about BM, but nothing to do with Santander.
  14. Argh, yeah, thought that would be the only thing I could do. Cheers for the help, though.
  15. I paid a figure, then arranged to pay the rest along with the next month's payment. I have done something similar with Santander in the past, but they've always put it down so it appears as 'AP' on my credit file, rather than a missed or late payment.
  16. Hi folks.I've been having difficulty in obtaining a new loan due to some late mortgage payments with the above company. I remortgaged with them in 2004 and then moved to Santander in 2008. It was only a couple of late payments with the last one being in January 08, but they should have been listed as arrangements to pay, rather than being late. I spoke with B&M regarding this, and they confirmed they would show as late, as even if I had an arrangment to pay they would still note the payment as late on my credit file. This is quite irritating as all my credit scores with the 3 CRAs are good, or better. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? I know I can't CCA or SAR them as the account has obviously been settled, so does anyone know any other alleys I can go down?
  17. Hello folks. I had a mortgage application with HSBC turned down and they specifically mentioned that it was due to items on my credit file with CallCredit Check. I recently registered with them and they have incorrect info. It relates to a PPI complaint I had with HBOS, where I stopped paying the installments for my loan as they were charging me for it, despite me not having ticked the box to purchase it on my CCA. this was resolved and HBOS supplied the information to remove the references to late payments and the default on my files with the various CRAs. I sent CallCredit a letter demanding my file was repaired immediately, then received an online response from them and it appears they didn't bother to read my letter properly, as they mentioned a current account I have with RBS, and that no further action was needed on my account. As you can imagine I wasn't too happy with their level of competence, so I sent another, and then received another online message explaining that I would receive a response within 28 days of when they received my second letter. This resulted in me then sending a third letter explaining that they actually had 28 days to respond from the date of receipt of my first letter. The 28 days will be up on 13/07/11, so I'll be interested to see if I get a response by that date. I should add that I spoke with HBOS about this and they confirmed they had done everything on their side, which I know they have, as the default on my Equifax file was removed last year. What I would like to know is can I get them fined if they haven't responded by this date? I'd also like to know if I can get compensation for the mortgage application falling through due to them not updating my file, despite them having received instruction to do so almost a year ago?
  18. Email this morning from Equifax to say there'd been a change to my credit file. Logged on, and all ref to AK has been deleted! SCORE! Thanks again, guys
  19. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RESULT! Stephanie from Aktiv Kapital called to say that they'd listened to the call, and they are going to remove the default! she said that the guy I spoke to messed up, and shouldn't have said what he did, but they're going to take it off, and it'll show in 2 or 3 days! WOO! Cheers for all the help, guys!
  20. Email sent off, and received a confirmation back today saying it had been passed to the relevant department. I kept it civil, and mentioned at the end I was considering going to the FOS, and reporting them to the ICO, but that to save time and money for both of us, I would appreciate it if they could sort it quickly. Hopefuly this won't take long to resolve.
  21. Thanks for the reply In what way would it be a data protection issue? I'm currently composing a nice email to AK, and would like to include as many angles of attack as possible.
  22. Hi folks, a wee update here. I recently got an email from Equifax, as I'd asked them to investigate this, too. They mentioned AK wanted to talk to me regarding this default, and I assumed they had changed their minds. I made a phone call a couple of days ago, and explained the situation to the adviser I spoke to, and he confirmed that the default was going to be removed. He put me on hold to check with their compliance department, and then came back through, and said yes it can be done online. This morning I have got a letter saying that AK are refusing to do it, which I'm obviously not impressed about. Seeing as they agreed to do it, then changed their minds, does this mean I can force them to do it through a complaint to the relevant ombudsman (FOS, I think?)?
