  1. fair comment ,but two issues here ,at the moment there is nothing under band A ,so nothing to accommodate narrowboats ,second [just a thought] static caravan on a site [mains sewerage] if you don't live there for approx six weeks of the year ,no CT to pay , yet a narrowboat can move at will just like a motorhome ,,
  2. sorry I didn't realise it was against the rules to ask if anyone knew a solicitor who could deal with this ..yes I was aware of the link you sent [thank you]
  3. Hi , I live on a narrowboat in a marina as many people do , First of all I have to say this is NOT about getting out of paying CT ,the people who live on their boats have just been hit by the council for CT , £1000 per year band A , per boat with a wooden jetty two feet wide , distance between me and next doors boat , we pay refuse removal to the marina etc etc ,, all the boats are not the same size so the CT valuation is unfair in that respect , the fairest way in this respect is community CT spread between the boats ,the council have the ability to impose this as they have done it elsewhere but in this case have decided to bully us into the above figure per boat ,can anybody help please or the name of a solicitor who can deal with this . just to clarify a point , this is a non residential marina which the council will turn a blind eye if they get the council tax in one form or another ,if they don't my belief is the will push for the marina to apply for residential , then the rents go up ,so this is a damage limitation exercise
  4. Hi ,thank you very much for your help ,a mixture of both lots of help did it on the phone ,,,, all the best to you both

  7. Hi gemspan I have exactly the same thing at the moment my item was sold for £25 but the guy was in the states and it was £58 to send. My latest fiasco with e bay is I have an item on sale on there and paypal have just sent me an invoice for december of £5,11p now I notice a problem with me item and they wont let me edit my listing [to help the buyer]until I pay £5.11p which they are already holding for 21 days from a previous sale including the postage .and to add insult to injury charged me 55p for a £10 payment into paypal that they have forced me into accepting .Please dont anyone ask if I read the terms .I will write them in short,,,,,,,,,,,,,we do what we want !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. To answer hightail I understand what you have said but surely if paypal has insurance for goods and monies ,is this not a case of insuring , insurance by keeping the money back .My main concern is the postage if I am not mistaken has nothing to do with them or the transaction of goods .I have no legal knowledge so its only my opinion humble as it may be ..
  9. Hi just wanted to ask some-one clued up ....I recently sold on e bay and e bay forced me into paypal due to being a new customer, then told me they would hold the money until I get good feedback or for twenty one days , my question is ....given my transaction with e bay is to sell an item and get paid for it ,am I right in thinking the postage charge is totally seperate and they have no right to hold the postage ,,,is this legal .I would appreciate any info thank you
