  3. my mortgage deal is up at the end of the month and had a letter from nottingham building society regarding the issue if i stay with them but want a lower interest rate they want to charge £495 to arrange this-what the hell is their to arrange? i'm already with them so why do they need to take this amount if i leave them they want £175 deeds release fee once again whatthe hell costs £175 just to send a letter or whatever. disgusting greedy practices and they wander why customers are fighting back
  4. did the initial lba for my wifes old current account-was only £245 of charges and received a letter containing the following!!! Dear glsp account(what the hell is a glps account?) I have noted your comment that you believe the charges ttaht have been raised on your account to be unfair, please be assured our charges are reasonable and are competitive with the charges made by other financial organisations. The office of fair trading(oft) has commented that they consider the level of late payment charges to be unfair, however they were actually referring to late payment fees for credit card payments, which are quite distinct from a bank's charges on current accounts. As yet, the oft have not entered into any discussions with the banking industry regarding current accounts. however, should the position change in the future, then alliance and leicester will participate as appropriate. given the above, i cannot accept you have been unfairly charged as you suggest.i regret , therfore, that i am unable to agree to your request for a refund of the charges on this occasion. This was a stock letter under the refeerence UNFAIR2 sent by M PARKER at customer services in bootle. so thay are saying the don't/won't/never will pay back current account charges. has anyone else received/seen this letter. do i just proceed onto the next stage now and also get the 8% interest added to the total? this could be a worrying thing for many people who may be fooled into thinking the bank are in the right. can anyone shed some light on this?
  5. just had my renewal through tesco for my car and thought it was abit high so did an online quote. car insurance quote came out the same but other charges added were completely different. they have tried to u the cost of other items on the renewals but when looking at the price list is is totally different. the sneaky sods are obviously hoping people wouldn't look into it and automatically renew. no claim discount protection was about £45-they tried to charge £51 on the renewal but heres the doozy: tesco breakdown assistance- renewal price £96.60 actual price to buy £76.95 so they have tried to fleece me and no doubt thousands of other customers for this extra £20 while offering the exact same sevice. spoke to an advisor who just played dumb saying he didn't know the details and couldn't comment on the prices even though i pointed out it was his job to know this ptherwise he wouldn't do much selling in a days work. anyone reckon this should be reported to someone somewhere?
  6. all the charges were cancelled and refunded etc. its just showing on the credit report that i'm a non-paying ****** due to their incompetance. i'm apparantly getting a call back to resolve this-they'd better or i'm shagged and unable to get any 0% credit cards
  7. got my report from experian thanx to the incompetance by mbna they are the only compny on my report that have listed me as a bad payer missing payments by upto 4 months 8 times the scumbags. on the phone to them now tryingg to get this cleared will threaten them with their ombudsman.
  8. tell them to sort it or you will be contacting their ombudsman that usually scare the bejesus out of companies and you get results within days
  9. anyone give me a pointer on wether i can act on this? about 2-3 years ago i had an MBNA credit card i have'nt used the card for years and pretty much forgot about it when i moved house so din't update my details. anyhow a DD went on it from the AA without my knowledge and MBNA sent letters to my old address which i didn't get. after not responding to the letters they rang me up to inform me of the debt £100. told them i had moved house, gave them my new address details and made a payment for £65 over the phone and asked them to send me a bill for the remainder and to cancel the card. never got any more statments and forgot all about it. fats forward to jan this year-get a phone call from MBNA saying i owed them thousands. they claim they had been sending me regular statements and i had ignored them so they added thier £25 a month charge etc etc. i told them i hadn't received any statements and that i had informed them of my change of address etc but they wouldn't budge saying they had sent them to my new adress,a complete lie as a week later a rep rang me and i asked them to conirm my address change and she gave me the old one so they lied to me they had sent all statements to my new addy. anyway i threatented to contact the banking obmbudsman over their mistakes so immediately they agreed to credit my account with every missed payment, charge etc etc so the card was in the clear and i could close the account. NOW I HAVE NO CREDIT RATING! this week i applied to VIRGIN for a 0% credit card but have been refused and in the note it said due to a problem with MBNA. the debt was brought avout from their wrong doing is there anyway i can get them to rectify the credit rating or take action against them if they refuse etc? cheers in advance for any hep
  10. hi all got a letter from sky card today(owned by barclays) saying they are reducing their charges from £25 to £12 a pop as expected but heres the doozy the (edit) they are raising interest rate on the cards by 3% obviously to cover their losses. my question is can they whack an interest rate up on a card like this? when peeps sign up to a card surely they are informed of the rate and agree to accept this rate which is one of the decisions to getting the card. otherwise all banks etc could say we're only charging say 1% interest on all cards then a month later put it up to 20% without any comeback.
