  1. Later in the day I attempted to withdraw my money by taking my bank card into branch. The cashier refused and the manager informed me that I would be required to bring a photo ID and utility bill into branch to draw my money out. I find this ridiculous as my account is open until the 26th of this month, why should I have to prove my ID when they know who I am and I have never had a problem withdrawing money before by taking my card into branch. Can anybody offer advice as to how I should proceed with my issues?
  2. Thank you for your reply, I have spoken to a contact of mine at the local branch and he has stated that they are "not allowed to discuss the issue" with me however he was kind enough to point out that a 'caution' was on the account. I notice that under BCOB they are treating me unfairly due to unexplained peremptory closure of account, I am correct in believing that this is now illegal? You will be glad to hear, I am sure, that I have taken your advice and opened a parachute account with another institution.
  3. I received a letter today informing me that they have decided to close my account which has never been in the negative balance without providing a reason. They have stated that they will not inform me as to why my account will be closed and that they will not offer me any further banking services. Barclays is one of the few banks that will offer me an account due to poor credit history (although without any credit on the account) so I need advice as to whether I'd be able to get them to keep my account open.
  4. I recently received a letter from iQor stating that I have an overdue fine (03/04) which I had completely forgotten about as I received as far as I've seen no reminders since the original fine was imposed (I know, stupid thing to forget about). I plan on contacting HMRC as soon as I can regarding this, though I have to wait until I can get to Jobcentre plus as I have no credit on my mobile. My situation: I'm currently on jobseekers and can not afford to pay the fine and I do not want bailiffs being sent as I'm back at my mums house in the short term. Are there any options that I could attempt to discuss with them to resolve this matter, for example have it added on to my PAYE or taken directly from my JS? Michael
  5. Recently a court ruling stated that the council must back pay its employees in the social care sector after the trade unions took them to court. I am not in the trade union and have sent them a letter for information on the matter. The council advised me that though I do not need to be a trade union member, I do need to get legal advice and to follow the correct legal proceedings to find out if I have a claim and to claim the pay. I know that advice on here can not constitute as legal advice but if anybody is able to clarify how to go about these 'legal proceedings' to claim any pay owed to me then it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  6. SAR done today via the phone, informed that the call was to be recorded and recorded it. No money payable for the request and current lead time is approx. 21 working days
  7. It dates back to late 2004. Okay thanks for your advice! Oh another question I have is can I get Capital One to remove the default, even though I only ever actually paid them £10? (I'm being hopeful)
  8. Okay I got a credit card from Capital One with a £200 limit, I only ever paid £10 off and the charges got this up to £549 owed in total. Intrium Justitata now handle the debt, does anybody know if Intrium Justitata is a purchaser or a collections agency? In total I've paid Intrium Justitata around £130 reducing the debt to £419. How do I go about getting rid of all the unfair charges on this debt? Do I go through the normal process with Capital One? Do I do it with Intrium Justitata? Can I CCA Intrium Justitata? Can I be very cheeky and go through the normal process with Capital One as well as CCA Intrium Justitata? (Yeh I'm sort of kidding about that one as that would possibly remove the debt and give me money that I never paid in the first place) Yeh so any help is appreciated, thanks
  9. Okay I've got a spread sheet up trying to work out how much interest they charged me, alot of my interest says "interest debited - notified last month" does that mean I date it as the date it was taken out or a month before that? The main reason I'm asking is because on the 31 Jan 06 I got interest debited - notified last month for £5.19, by this time I'd managed to clear my overdraft and after the interest was taken out my balance was left at £11.68 so the spreadsheet is coming up as £0.00 interest on penalties
  10. Okay so quite a while ago I sent a DPA SAR to halifax via email, after a while I recieved my previous statements free of charge. I had to stop at the point for certain reasons. Today I added up my charges, looking at the previous statements mailed from halifax and my new online statements. The total of these charges, not including any interest, comes to £1191, either tonight or tomorrow I shall work out the interest charged by the bank then send the appropriate letter to the bank.
  11. No letter recieved aknowledging that my letter had got to them or that they would send a list of my charges to me or asking for £10 or anything, however my statements did come today and I didn't have to pay anything to get them... pretty nifty I'll work out how much they owe me later and let you know.
  12. Well so far I've not recieved any response from them, don't worry I'm not panicing or anything. Thought I'd just give you all a quick update. I do hope they don't take too long though.
  13. Yeh I'm not expecting the smoothest of rides, but it all adds to the fun eh? I'll keep you updated whenever I hear anything. If all goes well I'll move on to my Capital One account, and help people I know do the same.
  14. I got an agreement at £10 a week. The reason they get you to name an amount is so that they can attempt to haggle with you to increase the amount, whereas if they named an amount you could attemt to haggle with them to reduce it, hence they will often get higher payments from consumers using the former method.
  15. I've been reading through the forums, the cases that are on here are a real confidence boost when you see that they won in the end. I'd like to extend my gratitude to you for the wealth of information that this site provides. Hopefully, with your help I will be able to claim back the charges made to my account. Wether I win or lose I'll be making a donation to the site as a thanks for all the help recieved, though it will be higher if I win. Just sent my DPA to the bank today, expecting a reply by the 05/07/06.
